As an April fool Google Maps released an 8Bit NES version of its online mapping tool.
Go to http://maps.google.com/?t=8. Even "Street View" is in 8Bit.
Or you can just watch this trailer Google introducing Google Map 8Bit.
Also, try streetview, it's ridiculous in this mode.
It took me 50 seconds to locate MY HOUSE. From a view of the entire world. These are pretty scary times we're living in.
Oh and yes, the rpg thing is pretty darn sweet.
Now I know how to render leaves! http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/13/leavest.png/
Hahah thats awesome. I wished the real world looked like ths.
It is no longer possible to select the NES mode option, but you can still trigger it by adding 't=8' to the URL like in the first link. I've updated the second link to include it as well.
It's cool that they even added sprites for various landmarks. I just wish they'd used a proper NES palette for Street View.
Sweet! and i cant find my house. :(
