I'd love to hear your strategies! I finished story mode, now I try to get trough time attack but I only got to the first boss once. I hate that I have to do the first stage over and over which is so boring, and whatever I do the first stage always takes me 1.30 minutes... No scores get saved, I find golden pieces but they don't get added to the last disk, it is a bit demotivating atm!

EDIT:
I thought I'd give story another try. Beat Vario with 1 death and then tried normal again still looking for the last golden quarter.
Also what is a bit annoying is the last boss... It is simple and boring once you've got it figured out. The first boss always stays a bit of a challenge and is much more fun I think!

savant has got to be my favourite musical artist of all time however the ascent was one of the most disapointing games I've played in a while. sorry D-pad :( and sorry Aleksander.

Is this the same D pad studio that's making Owlbyo, or are there two D pad studios?

edit: nvm stupid question. Why aren't they busy finishing Owlboy D:

Beat Normal Mode with no deaths.

Took 2 hits, but seems like you get full hearts at the start of the next level.

@Squirrelsquid:
It's a tough game.
I have a some strategies that help if you want to hear them.

I'm gonna try to do Hard Mode with no deaths.

Edit:
Beat Hard Mode with no deaths.
My score in normal mode is quite a bit higher.
Gonna try to figure out how to get a higher score.

Edit:
Was able to complete Normal Mode with taking no damage.
High Score of 22,013,000.
Max multiplier of x138.

It kinda seems like you can milk the final bosse's first form for points,
But I'm not sure, haven't tried it yet.
I'm not a huge fan of grinding an infinite loop, but I'm curious if it can be done.

It'd be nice to select the music when starting a new game.
There is a work around tho.
Start a new game, die, select a cd, then hit escape for the main menu, start a new game, and the cd you selected will play.

I'm not sure why my Hard Mode score is so low.
Might be good if the scores were seperate for each mode.

Would also be nice to save completion time.

Edit:
Ah good they took the bosse's loop into consideration.
You can milk him for a higher multiplier, but no score can be gained so it doesn't matter.

Hard Mode beaten.

Much shorter, took about 20 min.
All cds unlocked.
I going to try beating Normal Mode with no deaths.

I would wish for a "practice mode" - no scores get saved, you can not complete CDs, but you have unlimited continues.

Alright purchased and played.

It's very good!
Here's some gameplay notes.
WARNING may contain some spoilers: Don't read if you haven't played and want to experience it first hand.

Good Stuff:
- Great music
- Getting rewards after dying feels good
- Funny enemies, the amount of health they have feels great
- Power ups are fun and different from each other
- Gameplay is fun and exciting. Fast shooting, close call dodging, screen flash, challenging. A+

Other Stuff:
- Jumping is very linear, slows down when moving towards the ground on the other side. Might be better to speed up the ends and slow down the middle.
- No pause button
- The Esc key boots you to the title screen with no warning
- When using 2 monitors its very easy to click outside of the game which instantly minimizes it. You could lock the mouse into game window while playing, and then allow for full movement when paused
- The Attack Warning arrow is a little hard to see out of the corner of my eye, in contrast to the spawn warning which is very easy to see without looking at it

Edit:
Took about an hour to beat Normal Mode.
The final Boss is hilarious.
My highest multiplier was x115.
Would be a tough game to no damage, but seems possible.
Starting on Hard Mode now.

 I can understand that. I don't like country, I don't think I ever will.

For reference, my musical tastes are mostly late 80's early 90's New Wave, and punk rock from the 90's to the early 2000's.

I have a really bad case of not liking dubstep :'( Plenty of my friends like it (hell even my mom) but for some reason it just doesn't click with me. Maybe it's one of those things you learn to like after a while.

user
MikauKahn (Level 4 Deputy) at 8/2/2013 5:46:00 PM

I think the dubstep actually added to the tension.

I don't listen to dubstep as stand alone music, but I think it really has the capability to make action scenes more action-y.

Loved the visuals but the dubstep wasn't reallying doing it for me. I really loved the music after he gets hit though!

Looks awesome.

Will play it  soon.

Putting a small bit of elevator music in there would be a nice touch.

Maybe in the Options menu or something.

I didn't catch this at ALL! Thank you so much guys.

I'll be sure to upload some of the sprites so you can get a look at the work that went into it's production.

Amazing graphics, I'm waiting for some static mock-ups on PJ. I'd really like to have a closer look... :D

Anyway to disable scaling? The sweet arts are all horribly and unevenly stretched for me under wine.

user
crozier (Level 6 Hitman) at 8/2/2013 12:37:00 PM

That trailer music certainly was strange. A dubstep/techno/16bit combination. Plus the visuals looked pretty slick. Might have to buy it off the iOS, when it comes out.

surt (Level 11 Godfather) at 8/2/2013 12:10:00 PM

Hot damn, they's some tasty arts!

EDIT: damn humble store (and everything else humble) is broken for me on linux. Got to figure out how to get this without booting into windows.
