Due to minimal cnc at Pixelation I thought I'd post here as well.

Here is the latest version.

...due to minimal cnc elsewhere... = you're ugly, but I'm drunk, so you'll do for tonight.

...therefore, a TINY update showing a better direction of where you're going might garner more POTENT cnc. Not that the SIZE of the palette ever matters tho yours is SMALL and perhaps INADEQUATE. The ground thingies don't seem to make much sense with the cityscape having no perspective...maybe this was a PREMATURELY EJACULATED idea. The skull cloud is a good transition to adding perspective...

... no breakfast for you, get out :p

I'll work on this some more tomorrow, but you can see my earlier progress here, http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=11684.0
sadly my revisions cover almost everything you said. the foreground is supposed to be the ocean but I guess it's not that obvious at this point.

Like I said I'll post again tomorrow.

It WAS obvious when you mentioned it, but before, im afraid not. Try attatching several of the waves together maybe into a row? or add highlights ontop? or you could scrap we waves entirely, and just use highlights and shadow (darker further back).

Could well be wrong but it might be worth a try.

I like the idea btw :)

I don't know what the hell I'm doing, I'll just wait for some kind of epiphany on the waves and work on other stuff meanwhile.

Nicer but until further notice/updates the top graphic treatment adds nothing and may possibly take away from the overall mood...its too happy looking.

The clouds, although they could be wonderful, are too scratchy at the moment.

Worked on the clouds and heavily imitated Panda's piece http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/39681.htm.

EDIT: Little work on the skull to less cartoony

EDIT: AA'ed the sh*t out of it

Currently sitting at 19 colors and I'm sure there are some unnecessary ones.

I'm liking this last update quite a lot, though I gotta say, I think the skull actually looks more cartoony now.

I liked the other clouds though. Maybe you could keep both somehow?

The last update looks like its settling down and finding its way. The previous clouds/skulls were more graphic and exiting. This last as said is too cute and toony. The plane is just silly, it adds nothing.

Maybe if I add another one? The planes consume a huge amount of energy so it kind of comes together.

If your canvas has a cityscape in the distance and 'something' has occurred in the city where a cloud formation showing a skull, implying some type of doom then the story the piece tells has no connection to a plane flying overhead at all. I dunno, seems silly. All smart pieces tell a story.

the plane does add something- Chemtrails

Maybe even add a few more of them, without planes and higher up, intersecting. Like this, but maybe not that many.

Oh hey look my rank changed. Now it no longer rhymes with semen.

I think the plane should be smaller. the contrail already indicates a plane in the sky, plane should be a tiny dot. this has come far. maybe try some white or lighter blue in the water, it's as still as a reflection pool atm.

The most lefty trail seems a bit broader due to AA. Is it what you where seeking or are you just trying to reduce the color count?

Anyway, I like it very much event if it feels a little bit empty in the upper part in contrast to the bottom one.

Heh I guess it didn't work as well there, took out the darkest blue there.
Also removed some dithering and took the mouth from the earlier version.

Just an idea: maybe some green death smoke coming from the airplane.  I say this because the peace is about pollution so the airplanewould be polluting down onto the city.

have you tried a horizontal composition? I just don't feel the planes add that much. I get the concept, but the planes look peaceful and separate conceptually from the smog.

I'm kind of digging the open sky right now and someone over at Pixelation came up with an idea of putting some skywriting in there. I'll try that tomorrow, just wondering what it should say.

I don't think you need anything above the clouds; don't feel obliged to fill up your negative space with something just for the sake of it. I would perhaps stretch the canvas upwards a bit though (100+ pixels).

Anyway, looking good so far :)

right side of the image is heavy, moving the moon to the left should balance it out

I prefer the left one - it looks more natural. The right one is too washed out.

I also prefer the left one.
2 things:
-I beleive all the reflections over the water needs some ripples.
-You could  fade out the left chemtrail earlier (make it a little shorter)

Yet this has become an excellent piece as it is.
