    Posted: 25 September 2011 at 3:58am
Hi, I've been trying my hand at some iso sprites for a halloween invite. The guys to the left are the more recent ones. Michael Jackson is a bit older and not so good as a true iso animated gif. The moonwalking werewolf was so bad I scrapped it (feet shown). Now he just drinks beer in the corner with his head hanging is shame.

The star wars iso's are heavily influenced by electricnico - http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/15309.htm. There is no copy and paste, it's all by hand but I am sampling colours. I hope that is ok?

I tried a twi[lek dancing girl and sampled the colours from a balloon (right). That is not ok as she looks like she'll pop so I went back to black edge minimal reflection (left).

Ruby gloom and skull boy are just hanging.

I'm trying to find some decent pose templates for iso-figures as I'm starting to repeat myself. I find the static appearance that dominates most iso figures a bit dull but I want to keep it low fi as I'm not a good artist. Looking for suggestions. Poser? Old low end game sprite sheets?

Every one is effective in their simplicity and charm. I just love MJ even if its not perfect because its funny to me and thus...perfect. I even considered replacing my siggy dancer with it:)

As for poses in iso people. Remember that in iso front and back are acceptable poses too (8 iso poses). Pose variations examples can be seen in The Joint, Balamoot's Gallery, klav's Gallery has many pose variations but THIS piece shows a soccer player in all iso variations and his gallery has lots of iso people. Search the PJ gallery for even more. There is also Pixeldam and of course, eboy.

Thanks for the hints. Very cool art. Tried to do a wampa. I didn't like his hand cause it looked wooden so decided to cut it off. It works much better.

And the latest - the classic Scooby Doo gang, Spooky Space Kook ... and Charlie the Funland Robot (plus a jawa)? Ahh the sixties.

He turned out a bit wrong. to the left is the finished base model. Need to fine tune the glowing body and red helmet interor (when the kook is laughing / his jaw is down). The animation is just a bunch of superceded images stuck together haphazardly as a bit of a test - with some errors. He jumps like a girl... Not sure about the creeper. He looks weird, but then his pose is weird normally. Gerinimo. Miner 49er. And Um can't remember

I hope to do some classic scooby doo villains. They're silly but oh so fun.

Not sure what the etiquette is here with multi-posting. I've been adding new sprites but I'm not sure if I should add new posts or edit old ones... it looks dead if I only edit. Was interested if the scooby doo sprites looked iso enough. The creeper (olive green lurching guy) is a little off I think.

I think adding any update as a new post makes it clear what the update is. Sometimes a 1st post update is hard to see the changes. Multi-posting comments on threads in uncool but multi-posting when its an art update is fine here :)

Some more bad guys... Not sure about the werewolf. May have to make him chunkier and fix his feet up and give him a more slouched pose (plus give him a haircut).

I'm not quite half way through doing the classic Scooby Doo villains (1969 - 1970 era). Will do it. When I start doing Scrappy Doo shoot me.

The scooby doo work is lovely, the chacters have so much charm and very nice readability. Love the clean style you have for those. The werewolf doesn't really read as one to me, it looks more of a ghoul-type monster, though I can understand that it's hard to make it read as one at such a scale, so you can just ignore me on that. Also, there is a stray white pixel on his right arm. Keep it up.

Not my intent to offend, but I understand how I might. Seriously sorry. Will think a bit more before I post next time.

What I meant to say was that the animation looks a bit effeminate for what is meant to be a menacingly spooky space kook. The hands up mid jump looks a bit prancy. I might be digging a bigger hole here... I think I like the way it looks - comic and kitsh.
