Hello, this will be the HUD for the skills tree in my game. I would like to know what you think of it and give me advices.

The grey thing in the corners are some sort of metal plate, I would like help for this too.
I was inspired by this http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/53187.htm
Thanks!

The wood looks quite good, nothing to say ;)
The metal doesn't look like metal: needs shiny edges, reflections, tear and wear. Example here, look for more.

Those circular corners really remind me of Naruto for some reason.

Shouldn't there be some amount of shading below the check and x marks?

Also, the cut between the stone and wood seems a bit like, not right. I'm new to this so I have no idea what it is but my untrained eye feels like the connection isn't as good as it could be.

The thing to the right will be a item combinaison system.

Doesn't look like stone, rather a totally dull featureless material like a very fine-grained molded concrete slab. Stone has surface irregularities in texture and color.
The spirals are carved grooves, I think: they should have a highlight on the light-facing sides.
The + and - icons look like floating because their shadow doesn't connect correctly in the bottom left corner. Also the marks themselves should have a shadow (all icons).

How about this?
I added shadows so everything looks like they are floating. I added cracks and irregularities to the stone plates.
I not really sure about the highlights, i might try it later.

Comments should include critique, if you're posting in the WIP forum.

I You might try to work in some dithering on the rock texture, see how it looks.

A suggestion what you could do:
- Increase the contrast
- Add an additional color
- Add highlights for edges
- Some more AA (But don't overdo it)
- A fissure is not round, it's more like a lightning, like this.

(Bottom half is edited)

Super17 thanks for the edit!
This is the best i can do for the highlights, but I think im gonna keep the last version (maybe change the cracks) because its for the HUD and there will always be stuff over it.
Anyway thanks for the comments!

What I mean about the shadows and floating buttons:

Also added highlights for the fun. Not sure the buttons and wood need them, but I believe the stone does.
Careful about yours and Super17's: they show a light source opposite to whatever casts the shadows! Could be a secondary source, but then it would need to be differentiated from the main source, usually achieved through a different colour. Not sure the nice simplicity and readability would survive that ;)

The +/- buttons are floating over the wood and the wood is floathing over the rock plate. Thats why the shadows are not connected like your edit. Hope you understand.

LOL, it took me a while but now I do XD

However, this means it's not all that obvious. You should disconnect them more then.
