I don't know anything about how to draw clothes. Can you help me with some tutorial or technique to create cloth creases?
(I need help with shoes too...) This is the first WIP of one pic I'm doing: ![]() |

About coloring I would have gone into this direction
Best thing to do is blocking out the contrastful areas first where the light meets the material, from then on you work through all areas and folds and stuff Pixelart may not be the easiest medium to learn colortheory in, but it's an alternative :) ![]() |

These type of creases are that I meant. Yes, maybe pixel art is not the best way to learn cloth designs... but I think it is basic even in these pictures. You've put the spotlight on the top, but I've put it on the left. Thanks Elk! ![]() Next W.I.P. ... ![]() Edited by Nevercreature - 24 March 2012 at 11:53am |

I've finished the raincoat...
![]() What do you think about the perspective? trousers and feet are different than Elk's. |

My two cents regarding the colours:
your hue shifts are really minimal- not noticeable at all. Don't be afraid to change the hue more! Determine the colour of the lights and go wild. Even if he's got no background drawn, he's standing somewhere! Where? Outside? Inside? Night? Day? Back alley? In a club? Answer these questions and we can help you pick the right colours. Also- avoid perfect grays. There's colour everywhere in the real world because light keeps bouncing off stuff before falling on your character. |

i love the dramatic green to black on the back of his neck, it's really sharp and.. i dunno i can't describe it it's just got a great crackly texture to it. good job.
Gotta agree with the hue shifts. they're a little bland.. The creases look great although maybe a little too creasy ont he coat by the buttons i feel like the chest to tummy part should be a little flatter than that. what kind of material is the coat? is it suede? shoes look decent enough, again the hue shifts let the colour down and they could probably stand to be a little shinier too. love the shading on the pants, probably needs some kind of denim pattern in there somehow.. maybe.. Overall, it's coming along nicely. keep going =D Edited by Partack - 26 March 2012 at 6:38pm |

Thanks!! :D I've thought in a (maybe a little diffused) spotlight at the left. Do you really think I should change the hue once more? Now it has a dark atmosphere but texture is appreciable. I've tried other brightnesses but it lose the "mistery" of the character... And... How could I change the type of cloth of the pants? Do you think I must include the scenary? I'd like keep the pic only in the monster-guy. And... Some help (tutorials, models...) about hair? |

I don't mean the hue of the whole piece- I meant the hues within the separate colour ramps. Take the coat for example- all the colours have nearly the same hue. Try pushing the shadows towards blue and the highlight towards yellow - this is probably the simplest example.
A quick edit (by no means the "correct" approach, it's just to show what I mean) ![]() EDIT: desaturated it somewhat as per Frost's suggestion Edited by mikemayday - 27 March 2012 at 7:50am |

eek^ that edit is way too saturated, especially for the style of the piece. It doesn't work imo
Maybe just maybe you should go for a more monotone piece, similar to elk's edit. It might compliment the style more. I'd also get rid of the dithering, and keep your colors more "classic comic book esque", but give subtle pops here and there to make it more dynamic and distinguishable, such as a bright highlight on the belt buckle, make the teeth stand out, a dull shine to the shoes, a stark looking eye, and so on. Right now the colors are very flat |

I am looking for a warmer tone and darker . I turned the color palette to red, but I did not like. If tried changing darkest brown (before black) to dark grey and I think it works properly. |

Originally posted by Elk ![]() ![]() You have defined the spotlight a little oblique than mine, but do you really think that my lights are wrong?. My girlfriend says even in my picture the arm should have more shadows. This way the figure adquires more volume. And also I'm going to correct the low side of the pant in the left leg, just like your version. Thank you very much Elk! ![]() |
