Hello. I am new here and I am from BYOND community. I've been in pixel art for few years but I am new to pixel joint. I've liked the pieces in Hall of Fame and Weekly Showcase, a lot and I am determined to become like them artists.

Any advise on improvement(palette, line art, etc) would really be appreciated =)

Hallo. The anatomy is wrong and the arm on the second layer shouldn't look like that.

Please be more specific with your C+C. Just saying something is 'wrong' is not constructive criticism nor is it very helpful.

Elaborate on why you think the anatomy should be changed and why the 'second layer shouldn't look like that'. if you are unable to back up your claims, you shouldn't make the comment at all.

Back on topic, i'm afraid i don't have much critique for you, i'm a little braindead at the moment.

the pose seems legit to me. he looks like he's bracing for a strong knockback from the gun, but the light from the firing seems to throw this piece off for me, it made it look like the whole piece shifted one pixel to the left at first until i stared at it a little longer.

perhaps you could desaturate the light a little so that it isn't so harsh?

The legs might want to be a little longer also. but that's down to style and preference really for such a small sprite.

Additionally, this piece might benefit from a bigger blast from the gun as the single or two pixel blast is almost unnoticeable.

good luck!

Okay Partack. The anatomy is wrong because a human body is not like that. The torso is small compared to the rest of the body. The head is too big. It's about the same size as the legs and the torso. The arms are too large. The way they are now, the character can touch his knees. Real human arms are shorter. However, all these apply only if he is going with a real body anatomy. The second arm holding the gun shouldn't appear on the sprite.

It doesn't need to be perfect, it's a cartoon (and a small one at that.) I agree the anatomy is a little off- for instance the arms could be shortened as you said, but   that doesn't make it 'wrong'. When working with sprites this small, anatomy is usually exaggerated one way or another.

Just please try to be more constructive with your criticism, explain why you made your comments and take into account that everyone has their own level of ability.

Thank you.

I edited and maybe fixed the anatomy, I tried to, at least.

Tried to remove the harshness of light, decreased the length of arms by one pixel, increased abdomen size by one pixel.

Oh i love what you did with the recoil. much cleaner. and the blast from the gun looks much more powerful. i notice you took the glare of the blast away, probably a good choice for a sprite this small, although maybe you'll consider adding it again later on when you've refined your piece near completion..

Although realistic, there is a slight whole-body wobble on the return from the recoil that throws the whole thing off for me. although it might be stiffer, take a look at if removing that one pixel to the right bob before resetting is a good idea. (i can't really explain it. lol) it might work and it might not. i'm having just as hard a time visualizing it in my head as i am explaining it =P

As a side note, maybe his hair could move slightly on the recoil? i know it's spiky so i bet a single pixel movement would be enough. Or if not the back spikes of the hair but maybe the soft fringe/front bangs? just a thought.

Still a solid stance. good job. the arms being shorter look better, the hand pose translates a lot cleaner and i think the legs suit the body as a whole now that they move.

Good work, keep going. this edit is definitely a step in the right direction =)

Alright I added the glare again. Didn't understand your second point though, XD.

Tried to move hair but I personally feel like it just makes the sprite look weirder a bit.
