Want something great to listen to get your retro creative juices flowing? Look no further!

Rainwave Chiptunes Radio

Just hover your mouse near the top and click your preferred player for a download. Preferably one would want to use winAMP, as the browser version sucks up more bandwidth, and the WMA version is terribly buggy.

I just love this radio station to death. It's entirely composed of chiptune music! Music from NES games to modern indie games can be heard cheerily playing away all day, with no commercials or DJ interruptions at all. Probably my favorite tracks they play are that of Megaman Battle Network, Cave Story and Monkey Island. They have a giant playlist, so one will rarely hear the same song being played multiple times in a day, unless it's in high demand. They also have a cooldown function on their voting playlists so that you won't be forced to listen to nothing but Mega Man 2 for eleventy-kabillion songs straight.

So what do you guys think? Is this a great radio or is there any other music you think would better suit a pixelling mood? What do you like to listen to while pixelling?

Have 2 hours of 80's Italo Disco. I've been listening to this one along with others whilst drawing/pixeling the past few days.

Lately some Starship Amazing (http://starshipamazing.com) or heroic stuff by Two Steps From Hell (http://www.twostepsfromhell.com) have been doing the trick for me!

Kola Kid reminds me of the work of Chiptune David...doesn't sound very similar, so maybe it's just the gameboy that reminds me. Also a bit short.

Steve - Kid Nostalgia. It's only got like 6 views on Youtube, but I'm surprised it has that few. Maybe it's just the thumbnail that's a turn-off for most. I thought it was quite good. Later I'll listen to more of this guy's stuff. Bookmark'd.

16-Bit Monsters...meh. I'm not a big fan of dubstep but at least the first bit was good. The song oddly reminds me of the soundtrack of Spiral Knights or the music of Tiny Castle(minus the dubstep). It has a good combination of normal instruments and dubstep.

Wow. I'm wondering how you found most of this stuff since it all has so little views. You remind me of an electronic-loving Canadian friend of mine who really knows how to find good underground music.

What is a pixelling mood? I listen to the sort of music that I like, I don't have special playlists for my pixelart mood or my dish washing mood or my driving a car mood.

Also, it sunk off the first page, but we have a longstanding What are you listening to? thread

Hello, I'm bumping, but...
I create 8-bit music. You can listen to my mediocre tracks here!

"What is a pixelling mood?" he says!!!??

I have found the perfect music for the pixelling mood. I almost go back to this every time I start moving those wonderfully frustrating colored squares:

It's a chiptune group from Sweden called BOSSFIGHT and they are AMAZING.

Edit: Specifically check out "Leaving Leafwood Forest" and "Pirate Manners" to get a good sample.
