Hello!
I and my friends started to make an adventure game with mindf*ck and some tricky story.
I made first background and stuck with main hero...Drew it on paper and tried to pixelate it but I found that in resolution 320x240 it's very difficult to make the face look good and detailed. Here's the example. Don't look on the body, I'm busy with the head right now. Any suggestions how to draw it correctly? maybe some links to tutorials?

Banding alert! When you do shading, don't allow the lines to match up that. You're creating lines that aren't there because their pixels are right next to each other. Those hands look like parallel lines to me. The hands are filled with banding and the jacket could use some minor, additional shaping.

The line going to the hair seems odd, why not just go straigth for the back of the neck?

The legs look fine, if not comical. But it'll be hard to judge until you animate the top half as well.

The legs look okay. They could be shaped a little better. The problem with this animation is that when someone walks, it's not just their legs that change. You use your whole body; an orchestra of muscles. Arms swing back and forth, the hips and chest slightly move. I feel your animation is incomplete.

oh, it's WIP so I did the legs only :)
Of course, you will hear this "orchestra of muscles" soon)

even if you just have the legs done, I think its a good idea to put in the vertical movement of the whole body also, as it makes it a little easier to judge if the legs look right.

I meant the vertical (up and down) movement.  That horizontal movement might be a pixel too much in either direction, but its hard to tell at this point without the arms moving.

Is he supposed to have a funny walk? If yes, this is amazing. If not, have the knees bend to the front, not to the side!

And I second r1k's comment, it needs vertical bounce.

this man will be like 2 men in one body so the second walk will be "front-knees"
BTW, here's the little update...stuck with 1 problem..I can't be sure why I lost 1 frame, the legs looks fine but the body...

Hair needs to bounce around and the whole body needs to shift height throughout the walk.

This walk is rather amusing in it's comical style but quite good none the less. You have the shape and form down, which is a good place to be. Before going into finer detailing I recommend doing all the other directions first.
When you do get to the cleanup stage make sure to remove the banding from the jumper collar.
My only nitpick is that the backgrounds will have to be changed for the character as he has a very low almost front on angle. (would work great for one of those point and click titles)
The world is but a shadow of emotion, cast in shades of grey.

Why does his arm(same with the white thingy, sorry, english isn't my first language) move forward all of a sudden and then goes back? I'd fix that if I was you(either make a smoother transition or just stick it back), otherwise I like it.

His left arm isnt swinging back far enough, It kinda looks like has arm is erupting from his pants :S

Also, his legs kind of get lost. Being the exact same value, they looks like the same leg moving back and jerking forwards again. it's not so bad though, just something I noticed :P

I think this looks very nice, if you look past a few minor details here and there, like the fact that he looks like he's stomping the ground and bouncing lol. The shadows also need to shift more in my opinion, and maybe throw in more wrinklage of the clothing. Keep up the good work

Love it, but what's bugging me is the legs. Both legs go back horizontally, when he's walking diagonally. It looks like he's almost side stepping.

Also, the head should turn around like the body does, and it looks like his right arm goes higher than his left.

Not to mention, there is a lot of banding.

And there is no clear source of light on his face. The body says it's to the left, but the face & hair says otherwise.

wow it's been a while since I updated anything...I hope you are interested what's going on so I can say that we are not dead, we are making game slowly but it won't be RIP anyway.
This is not related to animation but related to the environment where the hero walks. As you can see, it's kind of creepy and fleshy but we like it! Stay tuned)
