I think you are working a little too large. It's just too tine consuming to work at such a scale, get every detail correctly, and rework parts. (also post your work at 1x instead of scaling it. We can up the scale by clicking the image.) Below is a wip that would have taken MUCH longer if he was to stick to the larger size.
http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16317 You have several instances of banding, notably on top of his nose, where his (teeth?) meet his face, and on the little rock creature's arms. But the main issue, here, is you are relying too much on dithering and not on the clusters of colors/shapes themselves. The shape of the clouds and hill have curves that suddenly switch to straight lines. The trees's lines aren't curvy but look unrefined or done with a shake-y hand. The tinting on his top hat is 2 or 3 pixels thick at every part. The strange line where the purple of the BG meets the blue is unnecessary, lumpy, and the same thickness throughout the entire line. Clusters are often nice looking shapes with lines that look like they could be from an exponential function graph. Below is a bunch of exponential functions. https://www.google.com/search?q=exponential+function+graph&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS516US516&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=IlbPUcrZOIbwyAHOlYGoDg&biw=1920&bih=971&sei=JVbPUZ-MCaPsyQGyloHwBA The colors that you are dithering- into each other- are contrast too much, and the dithering becomes highly noticeable and unappealing. Some of the colors, like the bright yellow and orange contrast too much with the entire image. The perspective is also odd. That's something I have had trouble with in the past myself. Try working with references and looking at real life images. Draw out your pixel with pencil before you start working in pixels. Not everything needs a black outline. The rocks, orange orb don't need it. I advise reading these as it can be quite helpful- http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299 http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5692 Hope I have helped, and keep at it. This an originally image ![]() ![]() The purple BG is for diferentation the tree cipressus :-) I also believe that much level you have, I think you're being too hard on your criticism to a beginner, you should consider making such comments to those who are starting ![]() regards -- juanillovale Edited by juanillovale - 30 June 2013 at 1:41pm |

The moon is a light source, do t shade it like an orb. Needs a horizon line. Color and shape of the clouds is weird. Not sure what he's doing with his arm.

Light in the moon is better now?
And change colors in clouds an adjust forms. I respect the shadows in hill, body of richmanand and owl, grat idea by Kurieta (thanks :-) ), one arm is back to chest. Edit: delete line in horizon. ![]() I hope you enjoy it now :-) Edited by juanillovale - 03 July 2013 at 6:09am |

Please stop resubmitting the same unfinished and still in the WIP section again and again. I've had to do this about 6 or 7 times now. Its getting old, k.

Por desgracia, yo no hablo español. Haré lo que pueda para que mi mensaje lo más claro posible. - Traductor de google
That said, forgive me if this post is a bit long. You have a few places in your piece which lower its quality. Jaggies, AA (not always needed), and Light sources. Lets look at Jaggies. That's when a line has a visible 'break' in it from offset pixels. Check out Post #2 for a description of Jaggies Here's a small example in your image: (Please note, due to the time consuming nature of these edits, only small areas were done. You may need to zoom-in to see the differences) First we'll outline your ground. Then, lets look at that same line without the rest of the image. ![]() ![]() Notice how the line doesn't look smooth? Lets edit that up. (only the left for comparison): ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a subtle difference. But that's all it takes to throw off a piece in pixelart. Here's your piece with that ground modified: ![]() Next is AA, or Anti Aliasing. The some of the edges are a bit sharp. Here's another example of the ground using AA. ![]() Lastly, the lighting. Notice how your character, his hat and cane are lit by the moon? now look at your trees. They're lit from the other direction. Also keep in mind that your character is lit from behind. He will have very little light on his front. Especially on his dark hat... here's a quick example. ![]() ![]() These little details can be seen/fixed throughout the piece. Here's a quick look at the moon: ![]() ![]() This post is meant to be entirely constructive. Overall, I like the piece. I feel that the squared man in a curvy world makes him look very proper. With a few more tweaks this could be a great final piece. The more time you spend on it, the happier you will be with it. Edited by StepDragon - 05 July 2013 at 6:32am |

I will do as you say, it is true that some details are wrong, thanks for the constructive criticism, now I get to work, being new I learned some things with these details you told me.
----------------------------- One time last... The result is this :-) ![]() thanks guys! --------------------------------------- sleepless night, by day hipersleepless Edited by juanillovale - 05 July 2013 at 9:16am |

Please don't just copy my edit and call it done.
I see some improvement on the trees on the left, as well as on the moon. I also like the updated dithering in the background. however, You haven't touched the trees on the right, the other side of the moon is still lopsided. The ground on the right is still jagged. |

After some editing think the result is better, accept suggestions, but I would also just like this. The moon is more circular. Step I missed, it was not my intention to copy your work stepdragon;-)

No is a perfect circle, but is a one moon :-)
I hope this is the last update. I do not see what else you can do XD Add drops in character and owl, thanks to one comment by an Muxaun 1) Moon has a good texture, but it is not round (maybe it is intentional). 2) Clouds look better now, but you can make them more realistic by Applying proper light on them. Look. 3) The person drops no shadow (is he a vampire?) 4) Dithering on the sky is not a friend - if you have no reason for Color-count restrictions - you'd better add another color, or two to make sky look better + slight shine around stars. You did a right thing by removing blue line on the sky. ![]() The moon is not completely perfect or circular, but is intentional, I like so. < style="visibility: !imant; display: block !imant; width: 0px !imant; height: 0px !imant; border-style: none !imant;"> Edited by juanillovale - 28 July 2013 at 8:47am |
