Cool idea, but couldn't we just do it like in "It's Evolving!"-challenge instead of animating?
snake's entry in It's Evolving! like that?

Canvas size is fixed, so I'd assume we keep it as is. What's wrong with animation? Plenty of link have been provided, so you don't need any sophisticated programs.

erm...
also, how much are we allowed to change colours and change/add/subtract from the shape?

Oooooh. I like this challenge. Also I've noticed that all the programs have "demo" in them. Here's a link to what I use... unFreezeIt's small, it's free, it's REALLY easy to use. (Just create the individual frames with your drawing program. Open your art folder then simply drag and drop them into unFreeze.)

I'm a little confused as well... Are we allowed to slightly edit the template? Or must it stay exact?

Of course you can edit the template; otherwise we'd get almost nothing from it and the people who enter, their pieces will look all the same!

Use the template as a GUIDE. Do whatever you want to it but use it as inspiration.

This challenge was really hard for me to get started on. Hopefully this didn't stray too much from the original shape. Anyone have any suggestions?

Wow, great interpretation. If you did anything you tried too hard to stay in the shape. You have much more freedom to do what you want. Play with it.

I was working on it for the last 4 hours or so. When I have a nice block of time, I can get things nearly done. If we can go more away from the shape, then I might play with the smoke shapes and add more of the dragon. I really have a hard time working this way, since it isn't my natural process. But I guess that's the challenge, huh?

@mobichan:
Nice interpretation. I'm not too fond of everything being spilled out of a sack, but that's just me.
Anyways, I always seem to be visualizing dragons in these scribbles...what's wrong with me?
This one has really skinny arms, a huge head, and really wierd pelvic armor.
And I hope it's okay to add arms and legs...
EDIT: And, if possible, I'll also add a background.

I'm not the judge guys. Maybe Gas will have some input about all these questions. I'd hate for something to be sent back when it can be prevented.

I'd personally say that since they obviously used the original image as a base that it was ok... purely because if you can't change the shape significantly it takes away the ability to do much personal interpretation. But i could be swayed..

I hope rotating the canvas 90* ccw will still make it through the approval...? Because I saw the following in it straight away (And it would look awkward to put it vertical): Something crab-ish. What should I do with the orange things? I am thinking about shields with small spikes on them...

C'mon, guys. Have fun! Stop that rules investigations. What has been said is the rule, all the rest is up to you.
As Skull said:
Of course you can edit the template; otherwise we'd get almost nothing from it and the people who enter, their pieces will look all the same!
Absolutely true.
How much are you allowed to edit it then, i guess my question is.
75%. Helps? C'mon, what do you expect to hear?
I was working on it for the last 4 hours or so. When I have a nice block of time, I can get things nearly done. If we can go more away from the shape, then I might play with the smoke shapes and add more of the dragon.
What you've done so far is great and of course you can go further with the shape improvement as long as we see all the steps how you came from it to your final image.
And I hope it's okay to add arms and legs...
EDIT: And, if possible, I'll also add a background.
It's okay to add arms and legs. We should have been adding something about background to the rules list. I would forbid it but since it was forgotten I see no reason not to add it, Metaru is right.
l3m0n5's piece meet the rules in my opinion.
Varock's interpretation is awesome. We can easily see how he came to this using original template.

Yeah it's 2 turtles carying a rock with alot of moss and plants growing on it. Wait what? Comment? (Is adding a background permitted?) EDIT: Turtles are actually visible now. I noticed when zooming out that they were barelly visible.
