Hi everybody!

I'm very happy to post my first WIP!

3D modeller, I've allways wanted to create a tank.. Not that i "love" tank, but I was feeling like making one! I never found the time.. and a few month ago, I discovered Pixel Art!

After a few tries, lots of research, I started this "project".

So here is the beast:

The main problem was the track, especially the non horizontal/vertical parts.
Then I've tried to do my best with the suspensions.
Oh yes and the shovel, which is a bit crooked :P
The main problem I've encountered through my differents "works", was the color...
I would like a "winter camo style", but it's a real pain to find the 3 bases colors, and then the ones for the highlight... That's why there is only one color actually. But it's more or less what i expect to be the main colour: a kind of blue grey.

I'm now waiting for your comments, ideas, critics :)

Thank you!

Looks pretty good imo. Do you plan on animating it?

You can do a winter camo with what you've got.

Here's a typical generic winter camo.

Hi lucas_irineu. Thank you very much!
For the animation, I don't know yet... I'm new to the pixel art, and I don't know what to do to animate, and anyway, I don't think I'm good enough to try this :) I prefer to assume good static pixel art, and when this side will be OK, I'll take an interest in animation!

Hi greenraven! Thank you for the camo pic. In fact I should have told you that I was more interested in an old winter camo style, from one color only, as this tank belongs to the WW2.

Here is a try with the winter camo:

I think the main color is way too "blue" not enough grey, and the lighter color, on the top, looks like some "cream" just felt down on my tank...

Green raven was wrong any way, as if you used the colours you already had, it would of taken allot of contrast and most things wouldn't look as defined as they are in the first picture shown.

You have an obvious problem with colour selection, in a way that you can't get what you want. But from what your second version shows, I think that you understand the fine basics of choosing colours and how they contrast.

I am an avarage pixel artist. And will help you out as much as possible. Though do you have a reference? As I'd like to see the actual picture to help with colour selection.

Hey my bro's a 3D modeller Spikes15 or Spikes16.
So yeah a Reference would be kwl.

EDIT:
OK SO I KNOW WHERE YOU GOT YOUR REFERENCE FROM.
You could of least said that you didn't do the line art!

I don't know if you broke the rules! As this isn't really your work.
And you must of had permission from the artist to use his work.

I will take action and look to make sure you haven't though. As I am kind.

Anyways toodools: off to read rules.

I don't think it looks like cream on your tank.  It looks like ice to me.

Hi Jim16! Yes, I have troubles with the colors.. I always try to work with a cube, to find the good ones! But it's hard :p
Yes i used a blueprint to copy this tank, I found it here: http://www.the-blueprints.com/index.php?blueprints/tanks/tanks-a/14556/view/41_m_turan_ii__hungary_/
But unfortunately, the name George R. Bradford was not mentioned... and the homage of the website says the blueprints are free. Anyway, I only used the basic shape, and tried to make my way through it using archive pictures of the TURAN II Tank, as the original blueprint was quiet blurred... But as it seems to be the property of someone else, I can remove my work. I didn't managed to "cheat3 or to steal someone else work.

For the winter camo reference, I looked through the net to find some pictures or photos from other tanks, as the Turan II doesn't seem to have any winter camouflage.

Hi NotlikeTheOther! Thanks for the comment. Maybe I should try to "spray" more light dots so it looks like more like snow.

I'm now working on the durt around the tracks.

well I don't really care if you used it, ripped it or what ever XD
I just thought I should point it out as some might feel that line art of that scale is somewhat of a pro's.

Anyway its not my decision whether you get rid of it or not. Thats a moderators decision. But you as far as I'm concerned have played your case and I'd like to see more.

OK here is soon the end!

I've tried my best with the colors, maybe there are too many...

I don't really like the way I've colored the suspension... But I don't know how to avoid "highlighting" them... I'm afraid to use one or 2 more colors to do something with it...
