after a long absence from pixel art i'm back again, and i'm still continuing my shading exercise,  which is shading an apple.
this will be a different color WIP, meaning that each time there is a new WIP i will try another color according to your opinions;
(for comparison take a look at: "my first attempt in shading")

well here it is:

What happened to your last (nearly identical) exercises? If you just abandon your threads without applying any of the criticism you receive, then there is no incentive to give further critique.

it's because i got no criticism

No, you got great criticism, especially from yrizoud. He stopped helping when you dismissed everything he said by saying "forget the realism" and asking him if the "shape was good". What does that mean, "is the shape good?"

And the answer was then provided by another user: No. An octagon is not an apple.

It's clear you're not using a reference. It's clear you're reverting to basic geometric shapes, instead of trying to understand the shape of an apple. If you aren't going to at least try to make an apple, we can't help you.

Everything that needed to be said was said in the last thread, I suggest you read through the posts more carefully.

OLLANTAYTAMBO

Just... relax. And look at your... thing.
Is that really even pixel art? Do you really want to cast in the wind what cure has to say? Do you really think he's commenting on your threads with the specific interest of being "a mentally challenged hypocrit"?

Have you even seen an apple with hard edges? And before you talk about realism, you're not picasso, we can't read your "cubist" interpretation of an apple if you don't provide context.

So what I suggest is you mak-, heck I'll do a mock-up

Here's the reference:

I didn't apply many advanced techniques, but you get my point.

That's great pixel art, but atleast I did it myself and not copy it.

what the heck do you mean by that?

You seem to not want to accept criticism, even though you are getting a lot of help! Try to actually mimic the shape of an apple, and try to give realism a go, as because right now you cant even tell that's an apple. Try to look up tutorials about how light and shading work, before trying to complete a piece. I've also seen some of your other work, and can you not even pixel a circle, because i've only ever seen you makes hexagon like shapes.

ollantaytambo- what is it that you're looking to get out of this forum? Someone just sacrificed their time to give you critique and even an edit, and you respond aggressively and dismissively. You need to ask yourself if you're honestly looking to improve your work, and if you're even willing to accept critique. If you aren't going to respect the time and efforts of other members, then you aren't ready to participate in this forum.

Alright I'll give it a try, here is an apple, is it square? No.

That's some sweet shading Alex, but the second brightest red looks as if it is going to come off of the Apple, maybe some dithering between the second brightest and the one after that?

since this thread doesn't seem like it's being constructively used anyway, I'd just like to say that's a sweet looking apple Alex.  Cool style and colors

How about you stop making threads if you're just going to troll? You've refused to follow any of the (100% correct) advice you've been given and even rubbished the use of references in art

If you're not going to at least try, feel free not to post.

why do you always post your work within a massive wall of colour?!

Anyway, I made a very quick and messy edit to show you what I would have done to improve (I took the "thing" as being a sort of slime-like creature):

And here it is bigger for viewing:

Your shading was way off, you need to discern a fixed light source, and follow it throughout. I added highlights, reduced unnecessary colours, changed hue/saturation (Your colours were very saturated), rounded out the edges, experimented with AA (This was as much an experiment to me as it was to you, I am also new) and gave the creature some expression.

Can someone ban this guy already? I mean he's obviously trolling.

Either that or he is mentally challenged and I'm incredibly insensitive right now.

running in to the sun,
running out of blood
and I'm going numb.

He can say that but I cannot, well done.
As for your immature message, I recommend you taking some grammar lessons or stop trying.
I have already said I'm sorry and I'm not doing anything anymore, you pest.

Interesting how your level of grammar shot up by a wide margin between your latest two posts:

Compare "after a long absence from pixel art i'm back again, and i'm still continuing my shading exercise,"

To "As for your immature message, I recommend you taking some grammar lessons or stop trying."

in any case, usually when people make pixel art they outline it with black (which it would not recommend) or a darker hue of the color you are trying to outline. Not white.

Keep posts related to the pixels. Post updates not insults.
