I would guess because he's smoking and he has long hair?

This is a great piece, btw

If you like that one, be sure to check out this one I did more than a year later in which I used too FEW colors! pixeljoint.com/pixelart/23184.htm

The Pokemon sprite is assuredly ripped:

The Onix sprite, and possibly others, are ripped from the games :\

I got this a couple weeks ago. It's so ridiculously difficult and unfair and I love it.

I agree that it's technically skilled but kind of unpleasant to look at.

This is superb. I'd say it's better than the original.

Haha this is pretty wicked. Good work.

Man, that doesn't even look like an NES game. Fantastic work.

This is excellent. I agree with the comments about the water, but the colors and the details on the stones are beautiful. Great work.

You have more to learn about dithering, it seems, but it looks like you've done well with what you've learned. Nice piece.

Not bad, but the water doesn't look like water and there's some pretty ugly banding going on there.

Sparse as the graphics may be, they're pretty and they're not distracting. Also, I love the subtle lighting effects.

In before endless 'desudesudesu' comments.

Anyway, nice effort. The outlines are kind of jarring, though, and it could use some anti-aliasing.

This is really great. I love the expressions on the snakes. Nice animation.

I'm kinda disappointed in the 2nd and 3rd place results, as they both had serious problems. I am pleased to see Tomic in 1st, though. Well done. Also, kudos to everyone who was robbed this week.

FlyGuy hit the nail on the head, I think. It could use some anti-aliasing and better blending and some work on the fingers.

I will give you brownie points for your band of choice, though. Well done.

Haha, I knew exactly who it was when I saw the preview. I love Zooey.

Anyway, the hair is too line-y. Those black, jagged outlines aren't so wonderful-looking. Also, your dithering methods don't work too well. You keep alternating between 50% dithering and solid colors, whereas you ought to be applying more gradual transitions with varying levels of dithering. Lastly, you need more contrast in your skin tones. She looks too pale. Put some saturation in there. Shift some hues around so you're not merely transitioning from grey-brown straight to white. That's not how skin works.

Broli: This is banding.

It's a nice effort. You've got some pretty ugly banding going on in some places, though, and not enough anti-aliasing.

That is pretty amazing, but then again why would I expect anything less.

Nice, but the shadows aren't consistently dark enough. Also the colors are kind of lame. The grass is too green, and the bricks look like cheese, among other things.
