Adam @ 11/20/2009 12:36:13 AM commented on Drunken Dwarf Smileys Cool beardlings. I'm not sure if they work well as smileys, but they look good. Although that helmet is rather flat.
Adam @ 11/16/2009 2:24:13 PM commented on Boublous Ferocious Nice texture as mentioned. I think just a simple increase of contrast would do this piece much better. Maybe some small hue variotions at the browns would also spice this up a bit.
Adam @ 11/11/2009 1:48:03 PM commented on Hexquisite Two (Severe Nudity) While I do love both, the girls skin on the second is not working for me. Maybe it's just my monitor but I'd go with a bit less green and more gray.

Adam @ 6/16/2009 4:58:49 PM commented on Baby Lifeguard icon Dammit again! A great challenge. I've got a decent concept and I've begun to like the EGA palette, but I fear I won't be sober enough this week to participate. Again...

Adam @ 2/1/2009 10:54:33 AM commented on Self Portrait I was suspecting dirty tools as well, because of the different level of techniques and color selection method on the different parts. I think the likeness to the original could be improved by cutting back the hair a bit widening the jaw and forehead. Made a quick edit, not sure if it is better or not. And that shirt looks really rushed...
Adam @ 1/24/2009 4:32:50 PM commented on Murder Though I can't really totaly understand the pose of the clone on the foor I love this piece! You're one of my fav "newcomer"s here nowadays, so keep up.
Adam @ 1/24/2009 10:43:00 AM commented on 3 Colour Gramaphone I think the overdithering kills the metallic-specular materials of the original a bit. Otherwise quite good for a first one. Dunno if it's in the rules or not but it's a practice to state references here.
Adam @ 1/23/2009 2:48:49 PM commented on donkeyoaty walk Actually if you zoom in, you can see that he's advancing at least two pixels with every step. I like this a lot. Made me smile. Had to watch Ministry of Silly Walks again...
Adam @ 1/18/2009 4:02:15 PM commented on Exploring other worlds Szuper.
Adam @ 1/18/2009 11:55:46 AM commented on Sweet I voted yes right now. I think it is valid pixelart even though a bit unimaginative. I'm not sure if this is a recent work, but if you are still planning to work on it, I have some suggestions. It would have been great if you have kept the original color of the light coming from the left. The parts where the skin meets the cloth are a bit rushed I guess. Especially where her top stands up. The fold of the top are a bit pillowy. Eyes lack a bit of detail, (her right one could be compensated if you push it back to the shadows a bit). The hair looks unnatural more like cloth. Her cheeks on the refenece picture are more round and her forehead should be a bit set back. You use some different skin tones here and there but the original has way more. Some slight green and blue shifts would benefit the piece. I like the effect you used on the top.
Adam @ 1/18/2009 11:09:09 AM commented on Pioneer: Blight Battlecruiser Quite a cool ship, though som contrasting colors would spice up the design a bit I think. I made a silly edit, not sure if it's better. The shapes aren't as clear as at the previous ones (which were awesome by the way).
Adam @ 1/9/2009 2:34:24 PM commented on Landing transport "Fat man McCarthy" Well, I cannot really agree with I think 62 is a large enough colorcount, you shouldn't use more, though a bit more optimized palette would definiately improve the piece. Not sure about less saturation, maybe would fit the metal slug style a bit better. But definiately no more dithering. I'd actually suggest a lot less considering it is of metal. I like the design, what it's lacking in my opinion at the moment is the definition of shapes and it seems as if some pieces were only dropped onto the sprite without considering its effects. Whipped up a quick and dirty edit, to show what I mean.

Adam @ 1/2/2009 5:19:45 PM commented on Videogame Char Smooth walking animation. To be honest I like the first version the most. I like the more exagerrated movement and the clean design of it. Also, there are some really unnecessary colors on the shaded ones. Actually the different tones doesn't really help to define the shapes on them. I suggest you trying out a bit less but more contrasty shades. I liked this guy so much that I whipped up a small edit of one of the frames. I hope you don't mind. |
