My comment wasn't so much about this piece, but many of your other pieces. We have a "public queue" here, which is where pieces go for other PixelJoint members to vote on them. This particular piece didn't get a high enough score to get into the gallery. I don't know exactly why. As for your other pieces and allegations of special tools, it's just one of those things that was common and normal in the early scene days. Your 256 color images in particular seem tooled. It's just hard to manage that many colors by hand. There's nothing at all wrong with this way of making pixel art, it's just not right for the PixelJoint gallery. Please understand that no one's trying to call your art bad or anything like that. I know you've been getting upset and angry because a lot of your pieces aren't being allowed in. We're not trying to upset you. On the contrary, we want new artists to feel welcomed and happy at PixelJoint, but you have to understand that the purity of the gallery is, for us, the most important thing of all. We have to take certain precautions. We know about DPaint and other early programs used by sceners, and we know it was expected for you to use all of the tools available to you, whether they'd be called "pure" today or not. So when we see a new scener with really smooth art, we assume they're submitting work they made back when those tools were OK, and they simply don't understand the new school rules governing PixelJoint. Not that PixelJoint is the supreme authority on what pixel art is. But remember, you joined us. You can't join a soccer team and get angry because they won't allow you to use a baseball bat.
Hatch @ 11/16/2009 3:18:48 PM commented on KYU Because it's tacky advertising that detracts from the art.

Hatch @ 11/16/2009 9:45:10 AM commented on Delircat PandaFox, the reason some of your stuff requires revision is because a lot of old scene art is made using tools like blur, smear, auto AA, and things like that. These tools were OK back in the day, but on PJ we have strict rules about things being made pixel by pixel. So when your stuff gets sent back, it's not because anyone thinks your art is bad, but because the rules about pixel art have changed a lot since the 80s/90s. There are plenty of showcases for scene art that does not fit PixelJoint's definition of pixel art, like pouet. Here, we ask that you only submit work that was made pixel by pixel, with no special tools. I hope you continue to submit your work that follows the PJ guidelines. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss this.
