Three Quotes: ![]()
On Pixel Art: "The price one pays for pursuing any profession, or calling, is an intimate knowledge of it's ugly side". James Baldwin, American author (1924-1987)
On Individual(s) Art: "All that is gold does not glitter, not all those that wander are lost". J.R.R.Tolkien (eternal)
On Critique: "Authority without wisdom is like a heavy axe without an edge, fitter to bruise than polish". Anne Bradstreet, American poet (1612-1672)
This ain't a utopian society, but neither is it a hellhole. People give their opinions, and what more could an artist ask for? I mean, is not the idea of art to please people visually? If that is the case, then it shouldn't matter who says what, as long as they're saying what they believe to be true.
I'll agree with you that some comments are complete shit, but call them out when you recieve them. Ask for an elaborated criticism. Don't whine that everyone sucks at C&C, because that ain't the case, and if you truly believe it is, you're sadly mistaken.
You're welcome to leave; I'd not known of your existence before this, but don't bring the house down with you, or even make an attempt to. Stay around and improve it with your presence or haul out and stay out without vandalizing the walls on your exit.
Emo. "I am aware that this will probably get alot of nasty comments" : such expectations lead me to believe the attention may play a role in this piece and your leaving. Go out with a bang atleast, not a doll. How anticlimatic.
Omgwtfboonkthxbye! to express my anger.
Now then; you posted this 6 months after you joined. This meaning the community wasn't that bad, I wouldn't stick around THAT long. Hell, if PJ-members acted the way you describe them I wouldn't even bother staying here for a week.
Nextly, not all pieces get viewed by everyone when you post them in the gallery, it's hard to see all without some that escape the eye. This means not all of the more expierences people can critisize your work if there is anything to critisize, so you'll end up getting comments from 10-year olds that still watch Pokémon. 'lollol dat sux big tim' - 'i dont liek it1'.
If this is not the case and you are critisized by the 'right' people you just can't stand critism. I read all comments of the pieces I view and I've never seen one of them missbehave.Ok, they might get a little rougher time by time but they're still friendly ('I think your lineart sucks dude, you might want to... I do like the idea. Keep it up.')
"Poor critism"?! I've looked your your gallery just now. They all have plenty of comments so I'd say the less critism you get the better.
I feel much better now.
