c64 HiRes restrictions. 2 colors out of the fixed 16 color palette for every 8x8 character. Like Eve before it, like Triangle Land after it.

Really sets a nice mood, and the Sierpinski Triangle haze is a great touch :)

Bahahaha, that must have been the best dream ever!

Hah, wonderful.

Purple is the color of dreams, and tastes like grape. After staring at this piece for a while and falling asleep, I dreamt of my commodore sixty-four only the monitor had been replaced with a large purple grape. It still worked, but it was strange looking at the screen as it wrapped around in spherical fashion.

The grape was a bit smaller than the original monitor. I loaded Bruce Lee and had to keep turning the grape when I got halfway across the screen...

Thanks for that.

The tree is brilliant and the mood you've created is excellent.

Cool stuff, Helm. I've got to admit, while I really respect c64 works on a technical level, I usually find them visually unappealing. The palette just doesn't do it for me. This, though, I really like, on both levels, so once again you've expanded my view of the world.. or something. Kind of makes me want to give the whole thing a whirl...

this is probably my favorite c64 piece. I love how you expertly used these colors to create a dark and gloomy mood

Cool. You've got some real nice effects on that tree.

Helm (Level 5 Detective) at 8/10/2006 6:00:00 AM
Depends what mode you're drawing in, what you're drawing, how fast you are. Definately faster than real media of course. This was an easy piece, I think it was something like 3 hours. Others can take 5-10 or more.

SILVER (Level 1 Rookie) at 8/10/2006 5:50:00 AM
how long does c64 usually take to finish?
real good stuff as always helm!

buloght (Level 6 SWAT) at 8/10/2006 3:04:26 AM
Awesome scene, Helm.I love the girl and the distance trees.

Nice how you create this mystical scenes with such hard restrictions. It reminds me of Another world as well.

What I really appreciate on your composition, Helm, is the suggestive part of it. That is artistically brilliant. What enforces the pleasure is the technical constraints you added!

this reminds me of one of my most fav games ever, another world on the  amiga. Real moody with the siloette on purples. like it.

Filax_666 (Level 6 Hitman) at 8/9/2006 10:14:23 AM
Chunk Funk hibrid? The mood is awsome, I really think you were able to transmit something to the viewers

Evil-Ville (Level 1 Thug) at 8/9/2006 9:51:27 AM
The hires mode has regular pixels as far as I know.

Looks great.
