Title: Request: Nomade
Pixel Artist: Tremulant  (Level 6 Hitman :: 4180 points)
Posted: 8/28/2006 5:25:27 PM
Palette: 11 colors
Statistics: 17 comments :: 12 favorites :: 0 avatars

This was done on a request from Nomade, who asked for  piece similar in size and style to my "Mental Runoff" stuff, particularily the one entitled "Good Boy". The erquest was simply for a boy with a blue Yankees cap and an ipod listening to music. I hope I haven't screwed it up too bad.

I jumped to the conclusion that it was wanted for an avatarm, which is the only reason I'm posting it (usually I'd not post something so small on it's own, but what the hell).

I think it's 11 colours, but my count may be off.

With the border, your gallery is flawless now. Your avvy is excused

Tremulant (Level 6 Hitman) at 9/2/2006 5:01:58 AM

Thanks, guys, I honestly didn't expect so much feedback (positive or otherwise) here. The fact that it's essentially all positive gives a real boost to my ego. Watch out!

Jalonso: note that my avatar has a slightly different border as well. Chock it up to laziness, but as I assumed Nomade wanted this pic for a personal avatar (here or elsewhere) I left it frameless, and as the image itself is under the 100X100 restrictons, I simply uploaded the final product as the preview. But what the hell, I'll fix it up.

Yes, were is that darn frame. Great stuff as usual tremulant.

Mykola (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 8/31/2006 1:33:47 PM
Yeah looks awesome to me!

Lovely piece with no real crits. However, I don't like that you did not use your signature icon frame. You have ruined the look of your gallery. Even worse you have gone against your 'branding". I realize this is a very odd comment but you are one of the few PJ members that have an overall look that the icon here violates.

Man, this is excellent. I love the way you present your sprites and your colour choices are always spot on.

I love his stance, particularly the legs. Very natural-looking, like he has real weight to him.

TheChaindog (Level 4 Murderer) at 8/29/2006 2:46:21 AM

Looks very different from your other work, but that's not nessesarily a bad thing. The simplicity and shading-style work wonders for the character itself. Probably also the most interesting palette I've seen from you too.

*thumbs up*

I don't remember seeing any dither-less piece from you, which is great because I'm liking to see something a bit diferent from you. And even though you you ventured away from your "realm" it looks great and, in fact I like it alot more than some of your other pieces! I hope to see some flat-shaded stuff from you

Sidnaceous (Level 1 Quiet One) at 8/29/2006 2:18:21 AM
Love the theme you have going for this.

I love the simplicity of the iPod, it just looks great.

I love all your work, this one as well as the others :D.

I have to agree with David, I instantly said Tremulant when I saw this.  One thing, his torso to chest looks flat.  Other than that, I freakin' love the colors!

"I hope I haven't screwed it up too bad"
Yea, right.  Oozing with your distinct style and again making effective use of the limited pallete,  let's pray you never quit pixelling.  I guess this'll have to hold me over until your next masterpiece.  I'll stop before I sound TOO much like a zealous fan boy.

David Stoner (Level 1 Rookie) at 8/28/2006 6:55:26 PM
I saw this and literally said aloud, "Tremulant made that." Then I clicked on the picture, and you had indeed. The only thing I have to say in regards to critiques is that the earbud cord is way too short. Looks like a stethoscope.
