The original painting is just fascinating... So I repixeled it. :-)

EDIT: Larwick was right, painted -like text bubbles are better

My only problems are that the only original thing about it is the speech, and also W and H look the same. Good, though.

Yes, indeed. Good tip Larwick. I hope it looks better now.

Great job by jaz. I'm with RyGuy on this however. An original version of an established classic is always more interesting than all out replication.

FlyGuy (Level 7 Underboss) at 10/11/2006 9:51:43 PM

Im sorry for saying he "shrunk it down" that wasnt what I was aiming for. Just the original picture, uses the exact same colors. I think all of his work is great... I just thought maybe this could be a little more original instead of using the exact same colors in the same spots on the original photo on google. Im just under the impression that if you want to use another work of art and remake it..maybe you could change the colors around or give it a diff style. The one I did, I attempted to make it video game like.

Forgive me folks if I came off edgy..

i like your piece much more than grant wood, though thats not too much of a compliment.  still though, its a fine piece.  I think you can take more liberties with the people though, their faces jsut looks alien to me, especially around the mouth and eyes.  4****

Sohashu (Level 7 Sheriff) at 10/11/2006 4:58:29 PM
I say that this is an original, just becuse of the pieces already in Jaz' s gallery.

OT: This is an excellent piece and I want to see more from you.

She calls him honey.  And she's his daughter.  That strikes me as odd.

doesnt look color reduced to me. and the "stole my idea" argument is just ridiculous. good work, love the palette!

SeanGraal (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/11/2006 2:19:27 PM
great work man.. flawless piece awesome pixeling..keep up the great work

Larwick (Level 8 Shodan) at 10/11/2006 2:08:17 PM
FlyGuy, you are mistaken. Everyone, please refrain from arguing any further.

Lovely piece jaz, although the speech bubbles seem incredibly out of place for me. Why not make them look like they were painted on? I think that would be a nice touch.

The H looks like an M lol

Pieface (Level 3 Sergeant) at 10/11/2006 1:54:12 PM

You are a bit stupid aren't you, if you zoomed in you would see stray pixels, do you?

Wow you also did a re-work of a piece, he must be copying you

jaz (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/11/2006 1:51:06 PM
Ermm, FlyGuy, I haven't noticed your avatar or you before... You took a classic painting and reworked it. I did the same, which is not so surprising as the painting is quite well known. And it's not shrunk down pic btw.

FlyGuy (Level 7 Underboss) at 10/11/2006 1:48:15 PM
No actually its not. The funny thing is, I took this "exact" picture to make my avatar about 4 months ago..This was before I even knew about this website. That is not hand done, I can find the original picture and post it for you guys to show you. Every color used in that picture is identical to the one on the original, its shrunken down, and edited a tad. Should I post the original?

Pieface (Level 3 Sergeant) at 10/11/2006 1:35:13 PM

erm.. it is hand pixeled, zoom in and you can see

FlyGuy (Level 7 Underboss) at 10/11/2006 1:33:31 PM
Oh by the way, this image is just shrunken down. Because about 4 months ago, my icon picture I used this "exact" same picture to make mine. I tried to convert mine to more of a game character type pic. I remember alot of that picture, and the way the pixels dithered color wise. That picture isnt hand done. :(

FlyGuy (Level 7 Underboss) at 10/11/2006 1:31:54 PM
Why did you copy my idea? Just curiuos

ceddo (Level 6 Serial Killer) at 10/11/2006 1:18:23 PM
Lol, I think it's quite a good painting as well :D and you represented it perfectly. I can't find any flaws in it! 5/5 and favved!
