This is a basic run cycle for the main player character for my new GBA WIP Legend of Iya (the game was developed quite far along on PC, but was completely scrapped and started anew on the handheld system).
While I am proud of the animation quality, the color use is on a wasteful side here.

Maximum sprite size is 40x40.
Frame count is 16.

toranome (Level 1 Gangster) at 12/10/2007 12:54:30 PM
She's sooo cute! And her running is so bouncy!   bounce..bounce..bounce..bounce..

konix (Level 1 Rookie) at 9/14/2007 12:25:04 PM
This is excellent. Probably the smoothest pixel animation I've seen.

Itatsu (Level 1 Jukyu) at 8/7/2007 11:39:50 PM

Wow, the motion flows so well.

Pixeljockey - thank you for your generous offer, but as of right now I have an excellent programmer working on a Nintendo DS version of my game. Perhaps I'll post a link to a ROM here or in a forum once there is stuff to do in the game other than just running around: )
Thank you guys for saying nice things: )

drr (Level 3 Private Eye) at 4/1/2007 4:44:31 AM
Awesome animation.
Character reminds me of Mint from Threads of Fate(PS1 Game)

pixeljockey (Level 1 Rookie) at 3/25/2007 9:41:41 AM
I like this one. And the ingame-mockup is cool too.
If you are talented pixelpusher who is desperately
in search of a programmer (Win,Mobile,Flash) to
make the gfx come alive in a game, im a programmer
who is desperately in search of pixelpushers who would
like to collaborate on any kind of game-project.

Rikas (Level 1 Rookie) at 12/13/2006 10:51:17 PM

I love this more and more every day. You're a huge inspiration to me.

neota (Level 7 Ichikyu) at 11/2/2006 3:41:03 AM
This is rather wonderful. My only crit: it could be improved by giving a slight impression of bounding (to replace the current slight impression of sliding)

MichaS (Level 1 Depressed) at 10/29/2006 3:57:14 AM
That beguile not know say. Animation is very liquid . I love your style. Great shading :) 7/7

DarkfalzX (Level 4 Mercenary) at 10/27/2006 1:47:46 PM
Thank you guys: )
I mostly used ProMotion for this. Might have edited some of the frames in Photoshop to accentuate some details, but, yeah, mostly ProMotion.

Blingsize (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/27/2006 12:54:47 PM

IM GONNA ASK YOU SOMETHING WHICH PROGRAM CAN YOU DO LIKE THIS STUFFS

PKT (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/27/2006 7:55:38 AM
Hehe, very cool run-cycle. You really know the aspect of weight. Many forget this, the way the hair whips, the head flows forward when she lands etc. Very good job.

milkyjon (Level 4 Murderer) at 10/27/2006 7:27:36 AM
Truly an amazing job again. The movement is aww inspiring. fav

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 10/27/2006 6:01:52 AM
Great job. Wonderful sense of weight.

ahayweh (Level 1 Depressed) at 10/27/2006 5:50:44 AM
simply amazing. Rivals much of the animation seen in hi-quality games. Very nice.

Plunk (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/27/2006 5:35:23 AM
Baby run!

Baby run run!

Baby run!

Mirre (Level 6 Serial Killer) at 10/27/2006 4:25:53 AM
That is absolutely lovely, and so smooth! My only crit is that it might be a bit slow. Now it's almost as if it's in slowmotion, or gravitationless running on the moon.

EyeCraft (Level 3 Stalker) at 10/27/2006 3:34:07 AM
Holy craaaaaaaaaap. Thats just fantastic! It has such a feeling of momentum to it, I really really love it . I agree with Sohashu about the hair highlight, though.

Necky (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/27/2006 3:21:08 AM
Wow! That's is really, really nice! Adding that to me favs

iSTVAN (Level 8 Cannibal) at 10/26/2006 11:54:15 PM
Brilliantly smooth animation. I love it.

Sohashu (Level 7 Sheriff) at 10/26/2006 10:02:09 PM
Awesome work.  I think you should dull up the hair highlight a little though.

The B.O.B. (Level 11 Master Assassin) at 10/26/2006 9:42:17 PM
Jay-zeus!!! Your animation abilities are too damn sweet!! If I could crit anything, it would be that brightest color of your pallete seems to "blob" back and forth on the face when we see a clear view of the face. I'm pretty sure this was meant for a light source to be hitting the face, and you didn't want to add any extra, light skin tone, so you made due with your current pallete at hand. Nothing against pallete conservation, but I think it's just a strange effect your having at the moment. Also her right leg seems to scrunch inside the dress( or shorts I guess) like a slinky, when it is midlined with her body....But the level of detail, and flow of the clothes just completely over shadows these tiny flaws(at least in my eyes)....Supreme job...I could learn alot from your technique...
