These are russian folk characters before christianity, sort of nature spirits.=)
Top-left: "Chert" or "bes". Actually he has lots of names. Evil minded troublemaker, lived around human enviroment - family problem, illnesses, cattles diseases, murrain and much more - all blamed on him. In later christian concept has been merged down with a satan.
Bottom-left: "Leshij" - forrest spirit, usually unfriendly to mankind, if run into human could makes him lost in the woods or lead him in a swamp.
Right: "Borovik" - pine tree forrest spirit, most of the time quiet loyal to men, if they behaive respectively - do not litter or hurt trees for no reason. Otherwise does the same as above. Helping peasants find mushrooms by moving around from one spawn to another and whistling.

I could guess from the preview it was from you.. you got a very nice style, those characters are really full of life.. no special crits from me.. 5/5, I especially dig the bumpy patterns on the mushroom guy and his expression with the mustache

i like the body expressions as well as face expressions.
You're definitely one of my favourite artists at PixelJoint. Everything I`ve seen so far has been fantastic. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

These are super. The textures, especially the mushroom's top, are superb.
Many, i guess=) These three pieces aren't ment to be together, I put it them on one canvas just to make single entry. Well, since they are in a same spot now pallete could be optimazed for them to share. Cant tell for sure how many - i'm not home. I think about 24 each.=)

Biffo, that concept well known pretty much to every kid in Russia, at least in my generation =) There is a very detailed written discription for each character in folk stories - hard to miss.=)

wow it's really cool to see your interpretations of these characters, I imagined chert differently than this and now seeing this I almost want to go back and reread all the stories and picture this little guy instead - he's so.. devilishy cute!
Thank you, guys. =) I should probably make a description on them, I'll fix it now.

Wouldn't know how to crit these if I tried. Just wonderful. I love the expressions of each character. Just wacky, and near perfect execution. I especially like the mischievous goat character.
