This was supposed to be a montage of various hawaii type stuff. In the end, the waterfall to the right just ended up looking silly. However, I'm chuffed with the polynesian lass.
FlyGuy: Cheers, thanks for the compliment :) I haven't worked at many high profile places. I worked for a company in London called Themekit who did real-time 3D stuff in the early 90's. I did programming, modelling and texturing work (small company, many hats). Most of the high colour pixel art I've got here I created a few years ago whilst working at a Travel agent in Japan doing web development stuff. By all rights, they should have told me to do stuff in photoshop as it would have taken less time but I was on a pixel roll :) After that, I worked for a company called AiCube developing PS2 and PC 3D engine middleware, again in Tokyo. After that, I went back to Swansea in Wales to do an Mphil in Computer Science before getting my current job as a graphics programmer at Creative Assembly in England. That's about 10 years in three paragraphs. Unfortunately, I was a bit too young to apply my pixel skills in the games arena as by the time I started paid work, everything was going 3D and true-colour.
Hi, Unfortunately, I don't think I've got the creation history for this one, although I'll have a dig around for it when I get the creation history for the underwater pic tonight (which I do have on an old machine somewhere). I used photographic references for the elements of the scene, although I insist on drawing by hand with the mouse as tracing feels like cheating. In fact, the difficulty of proving that you did something yourself is partly when I've eschewed pixel art in favour of traditional media (for my artwork) and programming 3D stuff (for my paid work).

Looks good, do you have the links to any references used though? Pieces this realistic are often met with skepticism, and providing references and WIP's are the best ways to prove the validity to unbelievers.
218 colors huh? i doubt this is really pixel art. but if it is, nice job, but way too many colors.
