So I had some time between my jobs and carrying furniture. Didn't feel like doing something epic right now (sorry), so I figured I'd do some serious nerdifying (because if you're going to be nerding, you'd better do it properly.) Used to be really into Pokémon, so this fit the bill.

Mimite:  A mimic pokémon. It's amphibious and moslty swims around on the water's surface. I survives by disguising itself as the head of a large carnivore with the body seemingly submerged in water.

Bliter: When adapting to living on land, the Bliter sprouts claws and fangs to better protect itself and changes it's coat to blend better with plants. The sprout on it's tail starts to bloom to complete it's disguise. if under threat, it's flower can give off a powerfull scent that drives off most attackers.

Crowler: Given it's size, the Crowler has less need of hiding itself and puts on a more extravagant display. The petals on it's coat are razor sharp and it's scales are far more robust than they look. The tail is can be used both for defence and to attract females.

Nice challenge, I haven't tried the Pokémon style in years. Alright, enjoy and all that.

I love the concept. This is made more amazing by actually using pokemon style. Congrats on both awards.

Silence (Level 1 Rookie) at 3/29/2008 4:11:05 AM
Amazing! It stays true to the pokemon style.

I love it when pokemon have themes that are followed through their evolution.

This is a perfect example. I love the whole
  1. swimming
  2. walking
  3. flying                  ...thing. Great inspiration for a beginning pixel artist like myself.

X-wing (Level 4 Shichikyu) at 3/5/2008 6:07:29 PM

You followed perfectly the Pokemon Games' style! o_o

Amazing, 6/6! ^^

It;s funny, you only have 4 pieces of work on PJ, but you have 5 awards.

If I didn't know any better I'd say you were one of their pixelers. Not only does it have the vivid original design that you get from the newer pokemon but you managed to nail the style down to the teeth. Wonderful work, fav!

rabidbaboy (Level 4 Shichikyu) at 6/18/2007 11:50:48 PM
They look official, but in the same way, much better than the D/P sprites.:O
I like the designs too.

Rynen10K (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 6/18/2007 3:21:13 PM

Love it. Spot on for the style of R/S/E Pokemon games!

The last 2 forms look like they should be Grass/Dragon types :)

What everyone said. This is probably the first one in which they look like they could be real Pokemon, but not only done, you got the Pokemon videogame style perfect. They look like rips. Excellent show.

KrixKS (Level 1 Private) at 6/17/2007 2:34:05 PM
Wow, this definitely looks like what a real pokemon would look like.

Awesome work.

BlackDragon (Level 10 Lieutenant General) at 6/17/2007 2:03:33 PM

I think you are the one of the first pixelers to really capture the Pokemon style in this competition. The bright, energetic colors really fit the charactors. My favorite so far. 5 stars, and a favorite.
