WARNING: Clashing styles... sorry :( Between work and life I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on my pixel art.. which is kind of depressing. So as much as it pains me to whine about it.. I'm gonna have to stop working on this one. It's been an off and on project that I just love it too damn much to keep changing. (Crap about the pixel) I posted this on an art forum a few months back... my LUCK I would run into the only doctor/pixel artist/liar there. That guy 'kindly' pointed out that the spinal column doesn't LOOK like that. So yeah.. I'm too damn lazy to google a reference. :3

Nice style and concept.
You could probably push out the intensity spread of the lighter greys on the face and vertebrae a touch to make better use of your colour count.
Oh, and I really like the idea of vertebral beads.

You are right, spinal courts look different since they dont have a thread in them like beads, but a flexibel bone layer (dont know the english term) It still looks like one at first sight, but kinda ruins it when you are evaluating the picture like I was :P

i don't know about everyone else but i most certainly thought that was her spine when i first looked at it and even after having looked at the reference, it still gives off a spinal look so i definitely think that this is fine since art allows for a certain degree of freedom in interpretation if not leaving the viewer to use interpretation completely as some abstract art does.

a little bit more detail on the hair would have been nice, and a bit more attention on the colouring, but i definetely like the style you used for the face and hair

Wasn't particularly going for realistic... Now that I look at the reference image I feel kinda sheepish. That guy had every right to swear at me. o_o

I'll set a transparent background.. Thanks for the suggestions :3

too bad you're too lazy to google a reference , but you don't have/need to draw a perfect column, if that's not the intention of the image itself.

Its not bad, indeed, kinda like it in fact, but you could remove the white background, just to center the attention of the viewer in the girl, and not leaving her lost in the white, deep sea of the canvas.
