Nice RPG monster!
(To people wondering) I could be very wrong, but I think the shadow looks the way it does because it is designed to sit on top of a water tile. When you do that, esp. if you are designing an RPG or ORPG, it looks really nice.
Nintendo did that a LOT when they designed the original Zelda games, and it's a clever method of shading.

I think it's nice, but I still say you should ditch the dithered shadow for a flat color.

While it does indeed look nice, I think it's only fair to point out that the eye is clearly very heavily based on the Breath of Fire III Gazer boss. It can be noticed both in terms of shading as several identical colours in the palette.

Good monster design and the eye is really good. I was wondering about the shadow cause I'm unsure whether it is coming out of the ground or a water/swamp. I think the shadow could have a little more to it, but the actual shape of the shadow is nice

It never really got OUT OF the ground! :DSuch a nice sprite. Too bad about the dithered shadow, looks crap on white.

What really appeals to me in this picture is that at 2x it is just as smooth as the original size ('cept for the shadows, but meh). Really...awe inspiring.
