Part of a commission for an adventure game by Bunnymilk.
More stuff from the commission coming up later. It was fun to work on so far.

This blows me away every time I look at it.

very nice! although those trees in the middle seem to make it look flat.

Great job, keep it up.

The transition from light to dark is awesome.  Many variations on the trees, nice.

Erk, im not so sure on this piece i like it but everything sort of clashes like that tree for instance in the middle what is unlike the others it stuck out like a sore thumb

really cool that you have been able to get all those trees different!

looks nice, but the shadow on the dunes seems somehwat flat, and too much wrinkled. also, the trees seem to have too little leafs, or at least too small ones.

Edited it somewhat. Greenified the pond, changed a few hues and added some grass around the pond and edge of the jungle too, to make the desert-jungle transition softer. I added some red to some of the green tones so they blend better with the statues.

It's pretty nice. Though I don't like the fact you switch tree styles so much, even if they're the same. It's great overall but maybe you could use some of the colors in that pond to try adding detail to the sky.

Also for the patterns in the sand. It changes too quickly. It goes from ripples to just random. Try adding a better transtition.

Substitute the darkest blue for a green, throw in another green from the greenery. Add new blue-green based grey to add depth to items such as the grass to sand and to blend the Pyramid in the grove and the statues?

*sand explanation makes total sense : )

**The size mention on the icon = rofl

For the sand, I wanted to make the sand thats closer seem more different, "harder", so it doesnt seem odd that the character walks there without leaving traces in the ground... (the lower area is the walkable zone, he cant walk in the wavey dunes). For the grass, I admit I really have no idea how to make the transition work! I dont have much room for it...
I liked the different trunks though, I thought it made the scene look more wild, but maybe trees from a same forest are rarely this different from one another... For the oasis, I just re-used the skys' color, plus a darker tone... as im not re-using this darker tone anywhere else, maybe I could use it to green up the waters...

Crazy proportions and scale.
The sand seems too busy.
The grass touching the sand is very harsh where they meet.
The huge difference in the palm trunks is a little distracting.

That said this is a huge departure for you and the pixel placement is way more controlled than your usual pixelling ways. On that alone this is awesome. If 16 colors is a spec on this project then what can we do? I do however think a few more colors could help this scene some. Say the introduction of some muted red-greys on the pyramids since these pyramids are New World and not Egyptian. An Oasis in this landscape wouldn't be so light blue. I'm almost sure that it would be in the green hues. Again its all about the 16 colors.

I <3 you maaaaaaaaaaan :D
