Well, I was fiddleing a bit with one of the general 16 color palettes of Arne. Made a little sprite, then thought of adding some backdrop to make a quick mockup. Had no idea, so I shamelessly edited a background of a well known old C64 game. I was experimenting with a lot of stuff in this piece, so it's not really consequent in styles, but I think it looks decent.

I think the black could be a bit lighter and the palette is missing an ordinary red (this was no problem in the actual mockup). And I failed to use the light gray properly.

Was fun to make.

What do you think?

Actually, I'm almost certain the game is supposed to take place at night, as I remember some screens having a moon in the sky, and bats flying around. Very Halloween-y, especially the cemetery and dungeon parts. Someone needs to remake that game with proper pixel graphics and lots and lots of animation (the hi-res remake from a few years ago was kinda rubbish)

That's why I preferred Dizzy on Spec/CPC than the 16 bit versions.  Just liked that darker atmosphere about it all.

Great re-rendition of the Dizzy - The Ultimate Cartoon Adventure (great ZX SPECTRUM game: ) starting screen... though I always imagined the game taking place at night.. and looking quite a bit spookier...

Trees are so fun to draw. You obviously had a good time with this one!

What an amazing transformation!
The light on the objects are different than the
shade on the clouds.
Tree could use a bit more contrast on the greens.
Mountains are a bit too triangular.
There are some really nice parts here  and there!

The guy looks like one of The Pirates of Low Moral Fiber from MI2 or whichever one that was (his face at least). Nice little scene. I too would love to see the original.

Hm, due to the editing, this probably won't get accepted. Its in the rules, only submit your own work. Please show us the original background.
