yes, indeed i know that story of the chinese using primitive guns to figth the mongol invasion in the 10th century , and later the mongols using that technology agaisnt the japanese in 1821.c'mon, we all saw Mulan at least once.

The time is a fairly open variable, not strictly bound to just medieval times. Basically early scientists and medics with medieval fighters and a ninja thrown in. Just think of it as several seperate cultures at a different rate in advancement coming together for the first time.

just curious, if this is based on a medieval theme, the scientist shouldn't be called "chemist" or "alchemist"? because i can hardly figure how a scientist could live in the same time period with the horseman, and have the knowledge to use powder to create bombs, while archers use arrows instead of guns like musketeers or rifles... and the medic... well, its kind of a paradox or something like that.
