This is my older work... Smileys set of html irc logs for Tycoonez.com:munity... Basic condition was minimal colours and strange face expression... EDIT: Damn, I don't know count... It's 12x12 not 10x10... Live preview of using smileys...

I still beleive you should do something. Why not AA, I mean look at the mouths, they are very jagged and cry for some AA. Look at these for inspiration:

Some AA and more contrast would help. Also try being more original, make it stand out.
