A gigantic dragonfly from my game project. If you jump on it's back it serves as a lift in the game. But maybe it can also kill you? Who knows?

I have made the wings semi-transparent; that's how they will be in the game. If that's not allowed on PJ, just tell me and I'll replace it with one without the transparent wings. Because of this the colour count is also 66, when in fact I only used 42 colours.

What do you think?

Your knowledge of dragonfly anatomy seems to be completely bulletproof, so I will just shut up now At least I've got a point with the unnecessary colors, that's the only thing that restrains me from a painful suicide after how you humiliated me

Well... The wings are actually pretty close together. Just look: http://www.healthyhuman.net/dragonfly14.jpg

But I'll let you off with a warning, just this one time

Oh, I am truly sorry for not knowing the dragonfly anatomy. In that case everything's allright! But still.. I'm not sure if the forward wing shouldn't be in front of the rear one. it would look more natural to me.. But if it's another anatomy feature that I don't get right, ignore my comment completely :-)

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to remove some of the more similar colors. The reason the wings are not black outlined is partly because they will be both animated and semitransparent and partly to give them a more fragile look compared to the rest of the insect. Don't think i will take up your advice regarding that

Well, the wings are only on the right side. A dragonfly has two pairs of wings, and since it is seen directly from the side, the other two left wings are precisly behind the right wings.

As equilibrix said, are a lot of colors you could do without. The second lightest light blue, the second lightest greens, and the second lightest yellow are barely noticeable. By reducing colors, you will up the contrast, use the light colors to add more dramatic highlights, try to avoid gradient like shading.
Oh and I don't think the mods will allow the transparent effect, as it is not pixel by pixel technique.

Also, in my opinion, the black outline should be used in either all the picture or don't use it, just in some parts gives it an unfinished look.

Well, that's up to the mods.. You should make them semi-transparent by hand, not by decreasing opacity of some layer(s). Anyway the wings are really beautiful but it looks like they are only on the right side of the dragonfly. The lower part of the wing that's supposed to be on the left side should not be visible. And the color count is rather high even with 42 colors.. There are some unnecessary colors that are hardly visible, I would omit them.. But overall good job!
