Lovely hindi film with the wonderful Rekha, playing the part of Umrao Jaan. There's quite a few monochromatic pieces in the comp so far, so I attempted to try and emulate the film in an Indian style of art with a variation with colours.

This scene is from the song "Dil cheez kya hai". It's not an actual framed/reference camera shot, as I did my own version of the scene, but you can watch it here:

Edit: Realized that it's actually 11 and not 12 colours (stray pixels)...wondering if I should do something with that extra colour....

wow awesome.. I remember watching the movie, old rekha version... I didnt wach the ash Rai vesion.... But ur art does look like rekha dancing. Even the fingers are important in dancing with expression... Eyes, leg posture, finger expression everythingperfect... Nice Detail ..  too good...

I watched the Rai version--I didn't know it was a remake of an earlier movie.  I wasn't crazy about the movie itself (seemed a rather empty at times, and was overly long), but like I said, it was gorgeous to just look at... the clothes especially   A good example of eye candy

Thanks! Forgot to mention that I pixelled the early 80's film with Rekha and not the remake starring Aishwarya Rai (I didn't enjoy that one).

It's also nice to know that someone else on this site appreciates this film

Nice job! Umrao Jaan is one of the most visually beautiful movies I've ever seen, and seeing your spin on it makes me want to try and pixel it too!

@Jal: I really do advise you to get this film if you haven't seen it already :)

@Dragonxxjef: Anatomy is the same. They all have big heads and small bodies, but the people in the background have less detail as they are far away. They also have looser clothing compared to the main character.
