I think he meant making it look like it's being written in (stroke by stroke) Maybe even add in some erasing a letter (all tough without an actual "pencil" writing them in and erasing them it might look weird)

If you feel like adding that, then maybe look at fools one art piece with the three little men and the pencil :)

Would be interesting if it was at an angle like a paper laying on a table from a more 35' angle view slightly rotated... anyway just ideas.

The numbers are hand-drawn, but I have been thinking of adding a border... or something a little more interesting. i did it mostly to practice the frames.

It's a good idea, but not very artistic. Maybe you shoul redo it, but with some real pixel art involved. Like a hand drawing the numbers, a different grill, an interesting background, like a book, or a magazine. Maybe a  little, funny, and cute anaconda, jumping around and making appear the numbers.
