oopsala.. just checked again with firefox and transparency works fine
checking the png-file i noticed that it's a 24bit one, always believed that transparency is only supported in images saved in 8 bit or less* - internet explorer 6 as well as my paint shop pro 5 and photoshop 5.5 believe so too.. i'm gonna check this on newer versions..
* for 24 bit (thus in my case not pixeled) pieces i use alpha-channels
seems like you have your very own way to handle backgrounds, like no transparency, canvas size defined by dimensions of the foreground.. different, but consistent at least
