I don't usually make sprites that look like this, but one of my friends on DA requested a 'cute cup of hot chocolate' avatar, so I made her this. I don't think I did a very good job of this, but hopefully she'll think its ok anyway. xD

What do you think?

I have a thing for inanimate objects made to look cute. Really like this.

I do  like it much more, the blush is less murkish and the cup is smoother looking ^^ The grey in the eyes works very well.

Sorry, I didn't realize that someone else had done something like this. Anyway bisque's one is way better than mine xD. And LazyKat, I've edited it a little to try and be more like you said. Hopefully its a little better.

hey guys don't worry about it seriously haha xD. Thanks ofcourse, but it's just a hot chocolate with a face :)..the angle is different, colours are different, etc. Even if it was inspired by mine, it's not close enough to specifically need any credit or mention ;D. I don't own cute lols.

I like the lil chocolate drop on the side xD

This awfully reminds me of Bisque's hot chocolate piece..... um, inspiration from her piece?

It is quite cute, although the blush colours look... Hm.  Mucky? Too grey, too dark, I don't know. This isn't a day of expressing myself well XD.

If you wouldn't mind a few tips;
I wouldn't use so much white in the eyes, it kinda turns them into wide staring hypno eyes. You could always erase the white pixels in the eyes that go to the side, and use a dark shade of grey on the bottom of the eyeshine to blend it in. But that's me, I like dark, doll-like eyes.
Also, no need to rely so heavily on outlines, let shading tell the form, lineart is just a little help in that area. You could try some anti-aliasing or even selective outlining to help ease away from straight outlines and move into 'shading telling form'. Thats currently the stage I'm in XD.

As much fan as I am of dithering; Mugs are generally smooth, shiny surfaces. Dithing imparts a rough, even gritty texture. To counter this you had to use many, many shades of gray. Using plain cell-shading with a few of the key shades can reduce your colour count and impart a nice crisp surface :).

Bisque's gallery is awesomely cute XD. I'm just a sucker for things with faces *sigh*. Hey, an apple! *pokes it*
