It's a pixelled reproduction of Les Edwards' (a known sci-fi illustrator) graphics. I put his picture on the right side on my  monitor, and created a pixelled version, pixel by pixel, only by my hand. 32 colors used, and Deluxe Paint (Amiga).

Huggkruka (Level 1 Rookie) at 5/25/2006 2:14:47 PM
That...is....amazing. What shocks me is the colours....32? That's insane! The picture looks like hundreds... great use of black for shadows! This is definately one of the best PAs ever.

"HAH" to people who think you need photoshop to make amazing pieces of art. You just proved them wrong with just this.

I think I've this illustration as cover of an HP Lovecraft book. You did a great work reproducing it, and I'm glad to see you used DP .. and on Amiga too! That's a cool thing, definitely.

Peppermint Pig (Level 1 Rookie) at 9/16/2005 4:04:51 PM
Indexed work. It's difficult to critique this kind of work as it isn't purely pixeled and what I notice to be pixeled doesn't constitute a majority.

Still, it's a nice composition, and a good Demoscene piece. I like the heiroglyphs also. The vase appears to be hovering, or is that some sort of relief work?

TheCaveman (Level 1 Rookie) at 8/6/2005 9:03:39 AM
very awesome! i love it!

 Truley a masterpiece

This is fantastic! The lighting was done to perfection. I just think the highlights on the vase(?) at the right seem a bit rough.

The B.O.B. (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 6/30/2005 10:31:37 AM
stunning as usual. I likey alot. However, his right arm looks kind of deflated. I know thats probably the way it is supposed to look, but it just doesn't fit the beast, or thing, or whatever the hell it is. Cool as beans though.

iSTVAN (Level 8 Cannibal) at 6/11/2005 2:00:42 AM

Awesome stuff. Pretty hard to even pick that this is pixel art!

Theres an odd green pixel sitting above the hole on the right. Looks a little out of place. Hard to believe you could miss this on something so detailed!

I like the face and right side of the body, but the left shoulder DOES look a little odd. But i still love this piece.

Thanks for you comments.
@st0ven: about "muscle structure", may-be you are right - it could be done bettter. Anyway I've tried to make this reproduction as close as possible to Les Edwards' orignal. And about DPaint and AA - I don't know is there any special AA tool in DPaint - just because I've never used it :-).
Greetz,

st0ven (Level 1 Intern) at 6/6/2005 9:32:27 AM
heheh, really quite lovely. Reminds me of older demoscene type work.  Going aside from the imagery itself, the lighting effect was duplicated quite remarkably,  though im not sure if its your muscle structure or the posters that looks just a tiiiny big confusing in the arm supporting his weight (as opposed to his leg which looks very much correct and believable by comparison).   The background is very nice, subtly done, compliments the mood well (cool egyptian guys).   One thing i have to ask though, is that the AA is rather immaculate. i dont have any personal experience with the paint programs of old (Dpaint),  it seems like doing it all by hand would be quite... well draining and almost completely overboard/phanatical to do it all by hand, no? is there something nin Dpaint that makes such a process easier? reason i ask is because its something that ive always envied from peices coming out of dpaint. they all have a very similar quality in their amnt of AA while retaining low color... Thanks for an answer if you could divulge :D.
