These were done a while back (jan/feb 08) for a now abandoned indie game called Mirage. They were refined many times before I finally got the look we wanted. Tried to keep a clean, almost cartoon like style with no texturing/dithering and reasonably low colour count. Also studied Henk's work a lot at the time. ;) There's much to be improved, mainly shading on the slopes and some extra background stuff but I don't want to waste time fiddling around with them so I'm going to leave them as they are. :)

Thanks everyone. The game was abandoned because a couple of us were too busy to commit any time to it (was going to be a pretty massive game considering it was freeware), and when the time came to start on it again we'd lost all motivation (or at least I had anyway). But hey, maybe we'll pick it up again someday.

Yeah, the background makes this. I really like the tiles as well, but the background just works!

wonderful stuff, very smooth. That background is spot on, and I think the best part of the whole piece.

These are awesome! I can indeed see the influences of mr Nieborg (horaay for the Dutch), but that makes this even more awesome!

The background is a bit 'filled up', still it works :)
