Top Pixel Art - July 2011 (#8)
This is awesome. One of my favourite pixels of all time.
The book was awesome when I read it all those years ago, but I hadn't read many books before that ^^
Also, forgot to mention - your piece is fabulous. I'm no expert at pixel art, but I'm unable to spot any flaws in it. I wasn't blaming you for copying, just wanted to show you the similarity :)
This reminded me a lot of the cover of a book called The Amulet of Samarkand

The QR Code on the left building actually reads "Loneliness".
The middle left section, on the wall...that looks like one of those little square codes you can scan with some iPhone/Android apps. I dunno what they're called... are you hiding something there all sneaky like?
I´ve found the Way of the pixel bird! is this the hidden message? and fav, of course, I love the background and specially the clouds
A mix of styles, oldskool symbol-dithering against line-pixelart. Looks quite weird.

also @Stickman, yep, I've been on the brink of cropping the topmost part out and submitting only the bottom one just because of that- but I've left it whole because I feel the two styles make for an unusual contrast and kind of go together in a weird way :)
I think this is a beautiful piece. but I just dont feel that it demonstrates being "Alone" like most of the others do in the challenge. I still think its a great work of pixel art though.

the piece is pretty good. the only thing that annoys me is that i can't see the hidden message. i've been looking for ages.

Nice theme.
The upper and lower half feel like two seperate pictures - not that this is a bad thing, but it does feel that the two styles clash.

GREAT COLORS, and the background is lovely.... and yes... i totally see the GIANT YUS and the hidden message!, is a shame i cant "translate it" because dont have the technology for that! :PPPP.... me look at the oldphone ¬¬
I had to change the colours before my phone would read it btw, just a note for anyone having trouble.

The texturing is just so damn good, the patterns on the wings and the pillar are my favourite.
Hmm, the final result misses a bit from the feel of the original ((I saw the first 2 stages) not enough darkness around it perhaps) but it did get a lot more interesting with the background! Well done on another winner piece!
