Also confused by the preview image lol. The black outlines on the body and the lack of outlines on the hair and shoes clashes. I agree he's a bit busy. Some parts have too high a contrast as well. The idea is cool though. :D

what's the relataionship between the preview and full view?

also PJ frowns upon the use of tool-created gradients.

preview pic is cool, i think the sprite of the guy is a bit busy and could benefit from a discernable light source and better management of the pixel clusters.
