I love the face.

I think the colors you're using are too close together. When I see the character at the small size, the hair looks straight black, the spear looks straight grey, and all of the forms look like one solid color. The color count could be reduced without sacrificing any quality to the image.

Heh, I like the character. For such a small sprite, I wouldn't worry too much about shading. I would recommend pick a main color and maybe one other dark one, if you really want a shaded sprite.

You're using a black outline for the whole sprite, as well. It takes up space, which could be dropped for increased clarity and readability. Outlines are useful to differentiate sections and individual parts of a sprite, like the hand apart from the rest of the body. On a small sprite, it gets difficult to make a readable sprite and have an outline around the whole thing.

I don't really know much about spriting, though, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt. Anyway, cool spear guy!
