I agree with frost. I think some of the magic would be lost if it were defined.
If we have to imagine the form of the creature we are the artists, not him ;)
c'mon people... Are you really so lazy that you can't bother yourself to use some kind of imagination? The "formlessness" of the creature is one of the things that makes it more interesting.
Oh, I see the eye now, and that makes this peice all the more awesome. I think you should note that in the description, I get what the creature looks like now.

@SolarLune - the creature is a piece of dark matter, and it's formless. The white thing on the body is an eye, so I guess it looks more like a DnD's roper here
Most interesting entry so far, regaring both composition and colors. Clean and at the same time intriguing.
I'm not quite sure what the creature itself is (a wizard?) but the effects are great, and the lava shooting up around the orb of lighting is very well done. I feel like the orb is too perfect, like no electricity is escaping the sphere - it feels kind of like a glass ball. I think a few sparks here and there, or some 'core sparks' coming from the creature and going to the edges would help to convey a ball of electricity better. Anyway, nice job!

very clean, excellent color. a little 'cheap' in the mystery of what the creature looks like (for the challenge's sake), but the veiling effect is done very well.
