Did this a while back with the help of a friend, who was kind enough to edit my base sprite until it looked decent.

 Awesome! Reminds me a lot of my style. You used very few colors and yet there is still so much energy to the leap. I suggest you name the enemy a blend of something to do with rodents and canines. It looks like a racoon or wolf of some sort to me.

It is! I might be working on a slug's pace, but I'm still doing that game! If I keep up the "one sprite per year" rate, it should be finished in a few decades.
