While it's possible to see an alligator, I don't think the artist intended to make any forms that would be obvious to look like an alligator -- instead, I think the name is both metaphorical, and it's up to the viewer to assume there's an alligator in there somewhere.  Either that or he just thought it was a cool name :)

 the more i look at it the more confused i get it's like i kinda see alligator there but not sure nice piece anyway! kinda pulls you in and stare at it until you see something there hehe can't imagine myself working with such pic :X must've hurt eyes when working with such piece :)

 maybe the alligator has something to do with trying to find images within the chaos.  My room is sponge painted and has crazy shapes and splotches everywhere and sometimes while laying down I find shapes and crazy looking animals, monsters etc.  within the splotches.  Maybe it's the same type of thing

I don't see how this is a alligator.... preview is awesome though!
