Wow, it's amazing, I love the colors, the textures and the atmosphere!
Very intense, I like your color and design choices.
While I agree that stance looks more impressive, it also looks somewhat like comic drawings which is inconsistent with the style of this piece. Still I'm going to practice with it when I go to work. Thanks for the criticism.
Great exercise for sure doing those tiles on the curved surfaces/volumes and a fantastic big screen as well.

Edit: Also, I'd get rid of those whiskers or make them more prominent.
I used a sketchpad in the initial phases so I'd guess around 25% of them are mouse-clicks which is just a little over 100k :) well most of the dragon, clouds and details of the mountain.
Amazing stuff man! Loved the details. It has a Lovecraftian feeling to it. Great eerie/gothic mood.
This contains around half a million pixels. I wonder how many of them are put there by mouse clicks. Nuts really.
cure's edit is really good. I'd up the contrast even more

I have to fave this because IT FUCKING KICKS ASS! must've been a load of work.
Excellent pixelling, but I think the pallete could pack a lot more punch with higher contrast

Oh my gooood!! Awesome!! you have remind me a piece I'm working in. The lizard/snake skin is a trouble... 
but you have solved it properly! 
I knew right away that the silhouette in the moon was the potential mate (based on the title). I love the textures for the most part but that of the wings doesn't seem to match the rest. Also, I would really like to see the ankle of the right leg. At the moment it looks like a stump with toes.
Great style. awesome piece. -- Edit: after closer review, it seems like there is still a little more work that could be done on the left wing of the dragon to match his right one. The dithering seems to not match. Very good overall, you're best submission yet.

Very very impressive. Aside from the AA on the shadow I would also recommend putting some more bend into the shadows wings so that they are a bit more readable.
On a side note, the anatomy of this drago creeps the heck out of me. I've seen lots of different dragon interpretations but this one legitimately feels like a creature you would want to avoid.
Thanks guys. The shadow on the moon is a male dragon. I'll make an edit in a few days according to the criticism I get.
Quite an accomplishment, congratz
A few tiny things I noticed, I find there isn't enough aa on the shadow there are colors to smooth things out a tad more, quick edit on the right wing of the shadow, not quite there yet, I think the outline of the moon would work better if kept gradual,imo.
Very impresive! I don't really understand what is the shadow on the moon though
