Top Pixel Art - October 2012 (#2)
It does look nice, but I totally agree with TheInquisitor.
I agree that it is a bit busy but I really love it, it's such a refreshing style and ambitious c:
I'm going to reign in some of the praise here, it's getting a bit out of hand. I hope you won't think me a jerk for doing so. :)
It's a good piece, but perhaps not as overwhelmingly great as other posters are proclaiming. I like the attempted art style and some techniques, like the background rocks and sky with their faint details, have been implemented very well.
My criticism comes from the more detailed foreground. It almost feels like you lost control of the piece as you were designing it. It looks cluttered and somewhat hard to "read". The dragon's chest and stomach is a particular example where I feel the detail is detriment to the overall piece. In my mind the shading on the dragon is erratic and unstructured.
The wings and tail are particular bad areas - they just look flat. Hopefully you'll post a new piece soon. If you do, try to first think about the shapes and shading of the body.

The left foot was a skill shortage.
Man... every time I look at someone elses work I'm just blown away. The problem is that I'm still too n00bley and starry eyed to actually give any criticisms... everything just looks too good :|
The left foot looks like it's twisted around facing the opposite direction. Other than that small detail, I really like this piece. The clouds, the sun, the flames, the rocks, the doragon, I love it all.

Love the four wings and the scales on the theighs that make them look like plate armor.

but the left leg (our view) is weird, especially the claw

Wow this is insane! Amazing rock textures, among other things ;)
The choice of a bright background turned into a problem relatively to the flames, since they appear darker and not bright. Their colors would be ok on a dark background.
Dat style, it's amazing and very different from what we're used to see here ! Amazing.
This can't get into the Weekly Show case fast enough!
