Nice to see this isnt heated or anything haha. First of all, evolution and natural selection is real, and has nothing to do with religion. What the debate is all about is Spontaneous Generation theory vs. God theory. Second of all, there will never be enough evidence for either side of the discussion (unless such entity in said God theory decided to make any form of observable contact). For one, we cannot observe any fossils that can support the theory of the first cell, not to mention failed attempts to actual recreate the event. Yes, amino acids can naturally form, but no, as far as we can observe, we ourselves are not able to use them to create life from scratch. As for God theory, we have no means of observing such phenomenon scientifically. Most likely any entity resembling a god either exists in a higher dimension or completely outside of the universe where science does not even apply. At this point, either theory could possibly go, and the only thing holding back the truth is our inability to observe it.
I think of God (or a God) as a type of fatherly figure that everyone uses. Same as I consider the Devil or Satan (I'm talking mostly about Christianity as it is the one religion I am most knowledgeable about) the adult version of the boogie man.
Hopefully in the future we will gather enough evidence to debate both the theory of natural selection and evolution vs. the idea of the being that created life.
But I must say that up to this point the evidence that a God of some sort exists is very vague.
I know exactely what you mean when people say "god gave me this job" or "it was god you healed my cold", I find it a bit downgrading the the self-confidence that we have. I guess we can only tell in the future what will happen.
I don't agree with you on this one ;p I'd like to believe that people will start being sensible about it. I believe in god, although it irks me to hear that "god gave them their job". No, god did not give you your job, you got it yourself. To me the belief of god is a sort of encouragement, a "the grass is greener on the other side" sort of thing. This doesn't mean I believe in magic though.. I make sure that everything that I believe in can be scientifically explained.
Petri! I missed you so much!
Not really sure why, because as I remember every attempt at me flirting with you ended up me getting slapped across the face. ![]()
Mrmo, your Lego ships are awesome... though I completely agree w/ Carnivac on the usage of actual block giving pleasure. wait.. you know what I mean.
My post in the WIP thread got deleted btw
I totally agree, though I have a feeling that in the future religion will slowly start to die out. We as a civilization cannot hope sustain ourselves by just praying to Gods to provide substantial living for us.
I think that's what people are slowly starting to realize.
People will tend to enforce those around them to belive what they do if they can. Mass religion can become a monstrous circle jerk if it gets out of hand, then a whole population will have a distorted perception of what they think they know.
Also, hallo Pet :)
That's an interesting point you make there. Imagine today if I decided to make my own religion and kill in the name of God (crusades), I would be considered a nut and most likely be put in an insane asylum.
It seems that only the older religions are the ones that are stronger in countries while today if you claim that you believe in a holy entity of some sort that resides in the outer reaches of space your considered crazy.
Well since we're on the topic of this I just want to throw this out there...
Just a wee joke.
The worst kind of religious zealotry is the one where they believe they are some sort of "messenger" for god. Who knows how many people have been killed by righteous religious terrorists :/
Religious zealotry in the US is mostly in the interior of the country. Both coasts are not much like that, I find. I have zero totelrance for that kind of shit so maybe there's more than I actually see.
intolerance = terrorism
Honestly I feel stupid being part of the christian population sometimes... so many of them will say evolution doesn't exist while they don't even stop to think about it. Evolution does not compromise religious beliefs, as it is only the natural process of organisms adjusting to their surroundings. What most people mistake for evolution is spontaneous generation theory, where amino acids jumbled together until it became "alive". Scientifically speaking, spontaneous generation has many flaws (just as religion does), and this is only natural since it is an attempt to explain why we are here. Both sides of this "existential" question are not right, and neither are they wrong. No one knows, so just because I believe in god, and you believe that molecules can self animate, does not mean either one is a definite fact.
They're a minority (at least, the ones who are militant in their 'science is wrong!' bit), but super-defensive religious folks are all over the USA. I don't hear much about evolution being wrong anymore, but they're currently distracted by the gay rights movement so it may come back later.
A person who I had to work with got into an argument with me about evolution. Because he was generally nice and "creationism" isn't a big thing here, I agreed to read his "evidence" that evolution is wrong. He lend me a book with a very misleading title (something about finding ones path, nothing with religion and/or evolution in it's title). Wow. It went from hilarity to insulting. It did have so many misinterpretations I lost a bit of respect for the person who lend it to me.
Also is it really as bad as it seems with "creationism" and "intelligent design" in the USA? Or are these extreme but scarce cases?
Do you guys know how to create/use a limited palette in GraphicsGale, i need a 32 color pixel art and all i find is save/load
Those are some nice ship designs but 3D digital Lego doesn't interest me. Something always appealed to me about the tactile feel of the real bricks clicking together or rummaging through a big box of bricks for the that one bit you need and know is in there somewhere.
Lego is totally a rip-off of Minecraft.
That Lego guy needs to come up with his own ideas instead of stealing other peoples.
I loved Lego! I still do, but I can't play with them like I could in my childhood. I still have them because I wasn't able to give them away. It may change soon, because I'm about to move, but it just feels like giving my childhood away ;_;
Besides I always wanted to give Brickwars (a tabletop based on lego) a go, to justify the amount of legos I have as a 25 year old ;)
@Mrmo Tarius: Cool stuff, have saved the link in my "inspiration" folder :)
@Manupix: Wow...
Speaking of LEGO, I really love LDD :)
Its current brick database is huge, and it allows for quick and easy building of, well, anything :D
Here's some stuff I made using it: http://imgur.com/a/dBv3I
All models were rendered in PovRay via the LDD to PovRay converter.
Woah.. those Lego structures.. damn. I've seen some neat MOCs (my own creations) before but never like that. Must be an expensive hobby at that scale.
I actually love Legos; I built this out the little blocks I still have left recently (the one on the far left):
i.imgur.com/iVDziY1.png I even customized some of the figures.. I mean have you ever seen Lavender colored Legoman legs and armor?
I use amazon s3 for cloud storage. It cost me about $0.04 a month and you can create direct links.
Homer haircut really? Well that's another thing we share, besides birthdays ;P
I used to play Legos up to an unreasonable age. But in my day XD there weren't all the specialized fun-killing items of today. Pretty much all was made from basic blocks: one had to use one's imagination.
Guy's work is way cool though.
Oh you kids and your fancy Legos. In my day its was 2 cubes of 100% toxic plastic which was delicious then and has given me a Homer haircut today >.<
Guys, quick question. How many of you are able to see the link I posted? I'm being told that tinypic doesn't seem to work with PJ's chatterbox. O_O
I'd be sad but the guy had a long and successful life and will forever be remembered for his influential and inspiring work. Still love watching all those stop motion creatures as much now as I did when I was a kid.
Hey folks! Posted a WIP thread thingy over some little piece I doodled up, but I'm using the C64 palette, which I've never messed with before, and figured maybe some of you wonderful folks might have some advice? 'Cuz I know ou folks are awesome! ![]()

A bit of blow makes everything better.
EDIT: Lucas, are we maybe second cousins or something?
Those things make for a decent substitution, but you can never replace the real thing. There is something to be said for playing the game it was originally intended to be played, with your face 2 feet away from a pulsing CRT TV. Not to mention that you can't use this bad boy with an emulator.
Bah, you just reminded me that my SNES, NES and Gamecube're probably killed from the building dust. Had to store those boxes somewhere while working on the house, and the only place I had, was in that same house. Hurray for dead Nintendo's =/
Before I sold my SNES a couple years ago I tried playing on it for a bit (to test all the games worked) I found the lack of 'handles' really uncomfortable these days after using so many joypads that like to fit into the palms better. But hey it's nice to see a USB version of it for those who want it and makes the SNES emulators feel more authentic.
But now I don't feel like playing Super Metroid until I get it. :(
I have sent this piece back and PMd to advise...thx for catching that guys :)
It's the image. Zoom in to it and you can start to make out there are a load of extremely similar colors in there. Lots of grays that are only 1 or 2 values apart from each other in the bottom of the blade for example.
Definitely gone crazy, there are not that weird colors such as bright green, pink or blue in this image. grafx2 also says 206 colors (none of which are 'weird').
There is a gradient in the blade of the sword, both on the grey part and the yellow lines. That seems to be the only problem.
Does PSP show the same colors that are nowhere to be seen in the piece?
I'd check in PS but I don't have it or anything else in my comp atm.
Probably some png witchery anyway, but I'd hate that tool to give misleading info when I use it to smite color wasters all the time.
Where's Hatch when you need him ![]()
It says 231 colors... oddly I loaded up the image in paint shop pro and it says 206 colors.
That's some epic news!
Congratulation to the whole team, the demo was really good. Good luck on the development now!
CHASM WAS JUST FUNDED ON KICKSTARTER THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PLEDGED I LOVE YOU ALL =]
I finally finished it dude :0 Hope you like it :)
Happy birthdays to blinky, Helm, Fak, Rayovtron!!! ![]()

There's always porn. Seriously. Nothing turns a brain off faster than a surge of hormones. And chances are you'll also fall asleep afterwards.
Friends are also a nice option at this time. Go hang out and just do whatever. Failing real flesh and blood friends there's always the looking glass of instant messangers, chat rooms, and emails.
Hunker down on a really good MMORPG. I suggest Maplestory, GUild Wars II, something along those lines.
Hey fellas, just got in a nasty fight with my gf and need to get it out of my mind until she's willing to talk to me again.
Any ideas?
Sounds like you enjoy that sort of thing, sailor... ![]()
I'm seeing what looks like upgraded crysallyds. Jesus christ the last thing crysallyds need is an upgrade! ![]()
Also I'm seeing nekkid weemons. Shame that anal probing abductions never got past the concept stages. ![]()
I always wondered what was with those dots. I've been at level 1 for ages and apparantly all I need is ratings, I didn't even know what ratings were. XD
I've only been here a year and a half or whatever.
Help me!! http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16255
You should NEVER really worry yourselves about these pageviews, favs, stats, and level ups on any art site. They NEVER will make sense... EVER!!!
Case in point = just look at dA...

COD, GHOST (ON THE NEW/ER XBOX)!!! May 21st

*savesforhugepreorder*
Only need my latest submission to pass before i level up! Tis is a good day!
*edit*
Posting here made me level up. I have no clue, cannot make sense.
*edit*
Day 78: I ate my hand.
and don't try to make sense of the rating system. There is none.
Under each peice of art there is a series of white boxes that when you mouse over them turn green. They are right under the plus and minus buttons to zoom in the art. You can rate things 1-5 at your level but as you level up the number increases.
Small question on the ratings, I've been meaning to ask for a while what the ratings part refers to.
So I decided to look at the stats for leveling up. First of all, getting the required 50 pixels will yield 300 points, the 1000 comments will yield 3000 points, and the 10000 ratings will yield 10000 points. THis all adds up to 13300 points, leaving 6700 points left in any combination of those three tasks. 6700 ratings, 2233 comments, or 1116 pixels. We can instantly eliminate pixels, because that is plain absurd. Let's go ahead and fill up those remaining points with ratings, increasing the amount of ratings required to 16700. THis means getting to level eleven with as much work spread among the 730 days, will require .0694th of a pixel submission, 4.16 comments, and 23.19 ratings a day. Round those up and fix up that pixel submission number, you get one submission every 14 days, and 5 comments and 24 ratings a day in order to get to level eleven :)
Unless you're one of the two broke dwarves I just mentioned. Both have guns for their secondary. Also there's a sniper chick if you want the true FPS feel. Secondary is a snipe mode with a first person scope in.
@Green, pretty much man. I'd love to play with if you're up for it. :P
More like a multiplayer FPS without the first person and shooter part.
That game looks pretty interesting. I think I may give it a go. It's kinda like LoL or DotA without those annoying minions and towers. XD
Yer', played it a bit awhile back. It's not a bad game. It ran pretty smooth. Sword use is a bit underplayed. You also have to buy characters, but luckily they're not total cheap assholes so you can buy a character with in-game earned currency.
I've been addicted to a game recently that's called Archeblade. It's pretty damn fun. Sad thing is, unlike the game mentioned by Green, you have to buy some characters while you get free characters that change weekly.
Regardless of the character crud, it's still a pretty fun game. Careful though, if you play it that is. There are two characters who are quite broken in terms of ability, attack, and overall versatility. Gasper la Velfanar and Dick the Megaton (not a suggestive name at all) are their names.
That was fun to watch, but the endings were disappointing... oh well. :(
Guyses! I just found a game about ninjas! SPACE ninjas!

Thanks, NewGuy. No aliased image zoom in Chrome yet . . . yay . . .
Which puts you in the 'good guy' category! Keep it that way! Trust me, I know what it's like on the other side, and no it is not worth it!
So stop wasting your time, and comment on this weeks new stuff instead!
Clicking on random unrated pixel art is depressing.

(I know eh! These conversations to tend to go a bit wild sometimes :)) I must agree with you on this one, in regards to gathering enough emperical evidence to support the theory Spontaneous Generation and the theory of God.
I might be going out on a tangent here, but what I think can be potentially dangerous (and this goes for any type of theory that has yet to be proven) is if you use a theory that has not yet been proven, this now leads to the matter of faith. I think that trying to agree with something such as Spontaneous Generation and also trying to agree with the theory of a God can be both equally dangerous (I'm not sure if they could be equally dangerous...) if they do not have evidence (or enough evidence) to support their theories.
My knowledge on Spontaneous Generation (and on matters of science for that matter) are a bit iffy so I'm not 100% sure where the evidence of Spontaneous Generation is at right now.
But just curious, what would you agree with Spontaneous Generation or the idea of a higher being?
