I would desperately like to get someone, anyone's insight into what the hell is up with these two amazing foreign versions of Superman.  Do we have any Turkish or Indian pixellers out there that can shed some light on this?

Edit:  Even better: Turkish Star Wars, Excorcist, E.T. and The Wizard of Oz.

From BoingBoing:

This little stop-motion animation recreates Super Mario Brothers in legos, which is charming enough, but what's even better is the theme, performed on guitar and recorder, and the sound effects, which appear to be some guy going "week! week!" and so on.

Check it out.

Go to another member's gallery study their pixels and fool us into thinking that person made it. No copies, only original work. Think style, technique and artistic sensibility. You must name the pixel artist in your submission. A big component is to really stretch it.

Example:
  • Buloght does Bisque
  • ThereIsNoCure does tomic
  • fool does OMGFossil
  • scotteh does BigBrother
  • Shawn does d-p
  • YOU do someone!
  • Jalonso does pixelblink... ALL NIGHT LONG!!!
  • Ensellitis does Ensellitis... FOR TWENTY-FIVE SECONDS!!!
  • Nobody does B.O.B
The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

There are a few challenge entries every week that get sent back simply because they are not following the rules.  The mods (myself among them) have approved some of these and then later sent them back after looking at the rules more closely.  I sincerely apologize for the confusion, but all pieces really need to follow the rules or there isn't much point in having them.

Three 18 year olds may be on the roll of getting a $6,450 fine if a court decides that their "festive firecrackers" outside a German farm scared the mojo right out of an ostrich named Gustav. The farmer said he may have lost 14 offspring (each worth about $460) because this ostrich couldn't get in the mood.

A dozen middle-age and elderly men were game enough for a Dutch gym's invitation to work out nude. But they were extreemely outnumbered by the dozens of journalists watching and interviewing them. One man named Henk said "It's spectacular!". But some People in the town were concerned about the sanitation.

Once again, sedgemonkey f*cked up on the voting for the challenges.  While correcting the voting last week I accidentally set a "spam vote" flag for the majority of all votes tallied.  No votes were lost, but the top 3 positions in the challenge were not correct.

I've corrected all the voting and the awards and we have new winners for both Love Machine and Chinese New Year (just announced a couple hours ago).  My deepest apologies to all who got the shaft on this:  Setzer, iSTVAN, Krysis, Ensellitis, Skeddles, Tremulant and especially ThereIsNoCure who got robbed twice.

IMPORTANT EDIT:  There was a big bug that was flagging the majority of votes as "spam" over the last two weeks.  I regret to inform you that the top three spots for the past two week's challenges will have to be recalculated.

The Chinese New Year pixel art challenge is complete and we have three new champions. This week's challenge awards go to the following pieces:

Year of the donkey by Tremulant
FOLLOW THE TURNIP by ThereIsNoCure
The hungry boar by FrankieSmileShow

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, organizers lit up a 8.1-mile string of explosives in a southern Taiwanese county Sunday, hoping to create the world's longest firecracker in a record-setting attempt expected to last two hours. The Taiwanese were trying to beat Spain's record of 7 miles.
