Just an idea for when one is feeling unimaginative, like I am at the moment, and a bit of a change from just filling line art.

Put your own spin on another pusher's pixel piece, be it character, creature, concept, sprite, mock-up or whatnot.

Rework it to your style, another style, no style. Make it how you think it should be or could be. Redress it, repose it, recolour it, redesign it, review it. What you will. No need to slavishly follow the original.

Gives your more to work from then line art, and give you a different set of freedoms and restrictions to work within.

Requirements:

• Naturally: No editing. Fully redrawn.
• Original works. We're not talking Mario or Naruto here.
  

These are not requests. They are liberations. Go forth and multiply.

Since I expect it would generally be considered good etiquette to ask permission to so mangle another's hard-earned pixels, I have created this thread for two reasons:

1. if you are happy for others to reinterpret your works then you can state such
2. if you want to reinterpret another's work you can find those who are willing to have their works reinterpreted

Why a public forum for this when you could just as easily negotiate this privately?

1. greater likelihood of multiple reinterpretations of the same pixel piece (which I think could be interesting to compare, and reinterpreting previous reinterpretations is encouraged)
2. promote the idea, and so hopefully gain more participants
3. no implicit or explicit obligation to complete the task (for (us) lazy beggars)
   

So if you are willing for others to reinterpret some or all of your works (or even if utterly indifferent about the matter but have a fleeting desire to type something) please provide permission here, and with any luck see what others make of your works. If you've got any extra personal restrictions/requirements (such as what items may/may not be reinterpreted) then state them also.
If you are very protective of your works, are jealous of others skill, easily take offense at views different from your own, or otherwise of delicate sensibilities then this option is probably not for you.

If you reinterpret another's works then by all means post it in this thread for all to see. And of course credit the author of the reinterpreted piece. Include a link to the source image for easy comparison. A short account of what you did and why you did it could be nice too, but is not essential.

If you think this is a stupid idea then feel free to shoot it down in a succession of unquenchable flames. If you think I personally am stupid then a PM would probably be a more appropriate abuse delivery system.

If you think you know better than me then tell me to my face and I'll update this post with your suggestions.

P.S. Someone hurry up and post permission so I can waddle my gabble before my fuel runs out.

Reinterpretation of Squrrelsquid's Darkness Guardian Larva

This one's an adult, hence the cysts on its back.
Wasn't sure what the things coming from behind the head were (the beauty of working from such a small sprite) so I made them taloned striking arms rather than tentacles, gills, wings.
