amazing man...
By the way, i use Gif Movie Gear on my animations, and its very simple to make the transparent backgroud, you can find it at www.superdownloads.com.br
update***
I just changed the animation a wee bit
1) I highlighted the plants lips throughout the frames so it doesn't look like they are changing colors as it moves
2) I gave it a wider mouth and horizontal chomping distance, so it can open it's mouth before it reaches its max horizontal peak.
Thats about it for now. The older animation is still in the preview box, so you can compare the two...tell me whatchya think peeps: better, worse, or wtf?...no matter the answer, I'm still willing to change it to please...
Thanks for the crits every body. I'll try and see if I could tweek the timing and look of the actual "chomp" action you guys are talking about. And about the whole tranparency affair, only Adobe Imageready is available for me, but the other Adobe Photoshop CS program that came with it won't work (they were both ripped and put on my computer, yet only the A. P. CS program denies me access).
Because of this, I draw every frame on MSpaint, and copy and paste them onto each frame of image ready. I than optimze the file and save it as optimized. However, I choose the transparency option, but it won't let me choose the color to make transparent....ok, nevermind, I am going off topic here.
Once again, just here to say thinks for the helpful crits. I'll be fixin' this sucker up in while, so be expectin' some edits, and more added animations to it. Thanks again...
Unbelievable work Bob.
I do all my pixel work in Photoshop/Image Ready and it is pretty easy to export with transparency. Select Save for Web in Photoshop and then select Transparency. The settings will transfer over to ImageReady automagically.
Brilliant. I love your traditional approach to animation, rather than the "just animate one part" that we find too often in pixel art today. I agree that the lips are too dark when the creature is pulling back; Preferably you'd want the same colors throughout.
In critiquing the animation, I feel that the snapping jaw action would work much better if the jaws were closed at the extent of the creature's reach. Right now, at the extent of the creature's reach, the jaws don't open until the full extension. In reality, the jaws should open some time before the full extension, during the actual striking motion, and then the jaws snap shut right when the creature has stretched her neck as far as it will go. To illustrate this, try snatching up an object quickly with your hand. Do this before reading the next paragraph, noticing what your hand does.
You'll notice that your hand begins to open while traveling to the object. When your hand reaches the object, then it snaps shut. Remember, your creature is trying to pluck poor defenseless Mario from where he is standing. She is not trying to smack him in the face with one of her jaws. In fact, you might want to try widening the size of the frame, because with this limited frame size it appears as though her jaws are just bouncing and squishing off the sides of the frame.
That is super sweet!
The only complaint I have is the lips getting a bit too pink and dark when it moves it's head back to strike. Overall it is exceptional though.
