This was done for a contest about scenes from rpg's. This scene happens in FF VI if you let Cid die. Celes, being completely alone, tries to commit suicide falling from a cliff. She survives and tries to find the other main characters after she finds Locke's bandana (that's what the bird holds here). I love Celes! : D

Ooh! Beautiful illustration! I like her hair, clothes, and posture - it looks like she just got up, is disappointed that she's still alive, and hasn't seen the bird yet. I also like the omission of her big white cape which, in the game, made Celes look too majestic at this, her lowest point.

Man, I remember this moment from the game. It makes me nostalgic. Very nice picture. Looking at it I can even remember the sound of the surf on the beach.

yep, that's what I was trying to get to...until you zoom in the bird with the bandana could perfectly be just some blue rock.

I have a question, isn't the girl a little far from the bandana? I mean, if I first saw the bandana, I would first try to look at and inspect it more to make sure that it is indeed Locke's before looking away thinking? Well, just an observation ^_^ (I haven't played the game so I don't know how the scene played out. So please forgive me.)

Still, I love how you made the whole thing!

she isn't looking at the bandana, she's just thinking about her stuff until she realises the bird is there.
I didn't want to make things so blatantly obvious xD I think it's fine like that, I focused more on the character itself rather than the bandana, 'cause it's the only moment of the game where it's only about her.

um, if the bandana is such a big thing...put some more emphasis on the bird, make him contrast the bg...but more than anything make the bandana contrast with everything...I didnt even know the girl was supposed to be looking at something

This is amazing, and I feel like a tool even offering a crit at all.. but ill try to be a sfriendly as possible. (because I couldnt have done anything this nice myself)

I just noticed her back foot seems kind of strange...almost like its going parallel with the bottom boarder of hte image..maybe if you tilted it back toward the north east of the picture just a tad, and scooted it in a little so it wasnt so close to the water line, I think it would be alot nicer...it would also make the background seem more vast...since her foot wont go as far back into the background...

Ah, the lens flare from the sun is a very cool touch, I have trouble implementing those. It goes without saying that this piece is technically amazing. But I also really like the overall atmosphere; that sun above those clouds provide a really warm, evocative, strong atmosphere which fits the subject of the scene really well.

I think this is a fantastic piece of work, the colors, the style it all works. The clouds work the best I think, you can almost feel the warmth of those colors.

You're right, but I already tried with the clouds and they still look like mountains..and concerning the sig and the lens flare.. I don't see it as a crit, it's just an opinion ( I like lens flares and the sig the way they are : / sorry).

Fairly good job here. I feel you should have edited it a bit more based on the pixelopolis crits before posting it here; Of course you can edit it once you've posted it in the gallery, but it is better to display a finished work of art than a work in progress. Especially listen to ptoing's crits, I agree with him about removing the lense flare, moving the signature and changing the clouds.
